Your only choice it to leave the country by air and pay the 20,000 baht fine on departure from the country.

You will be banned from entering the country for 1 year due to your overstay being longer than 90 days.

Somehow I managed to get out without paying a penny for 4 month overstay last week

(I had no idea I was overstayed until I got told doing my 90 day address report at immigration that spouse employer cancelled it in May and nobody told me anything because we broke up and didn't talk since )

  • If it was me I'd overstay to 364 days to make the most of it, assuming I didn't need to go back for some reason.   Ban period will be the same (1 year) as long as you don't overstay > 1 y

  • But if you got caught it would be a 5 year ban after being sent to the immigration detention center and then deported.

  • That was the worst advice in the history of mankind. Please, never ever be close to me in the case that I will need any advice ever och whatever it might concern. Why do you advice a person in need

You get probably didn't get fined for overstay because immigration didn't cancel your permit to stay despite the phone call. Had you turned up at the airport with an actual overstay you wouldn't have got through without paying.

UPDATE:- Hi. Everything went on smoothly. Went to the airport quite early and waited in the parking lot. Although on the way to the airport, a police officer had stopped the car i was travelling in, my friend said hes driving me to the airport and i was half asleep, i closed my eyes and pretended to sleep, my heart skipped a beat there. Everything was smooth at the airport, checked in and went to the passport control and told them that i have an overstay to clear, they took me to the overstay clearing area and made me sign couple of paper stating that i have overstayed and i would be banned for a year. Paid the fine and got out from the area all within 10 min. No escorts and all, you're just any other normal passenger once you have paid the fine.

Good to know everything went well . yes you committed a mistake and have to face a year ban but much much better and wise from you to go and face it rather than escaping and making more trouble for yourself. Good luck for your future
