Heavy rain coming for North, Northeast

Residents in the North and Northeast are bracing for continuous rain and isolated torrential downpours on Wednesday and Thursday (August 15-16) that could trigger flash floods.

Meteorological Department chief Wanchai Sakudomchai, in a weather warning issued on Monday morning, cited a tropical depression over China’s south coast with sustained winds of up to 50 kilometres per hour, which is expected to cross into northern Vietnam on those days and generate heavy rainfall in Thailand.

The same advisory also warned of the strong southwest monsoon whipping up waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf.

It said waves would be 2-4 metres high in the Andaman and 2-3 metres in the upper Gulf and advised ships to proceed with caution and small boats to stay ashore.

Hell I hope so, wife's away and I've had to water her fruit tree seedlings the last several days. Five minutes a day, it's never ending.

Yes, bring it on - despite the nonsense being printed in the papers most areas need some serious rains, difficult to believe if you actually believe what is being written :shock1:

Lots of weather related news in the last few years worldwide, part & parcel of the "Global warming" theories and at the end of the day another opportunity to increase taxes ?

No please, stop. No more rain for a month would be nice. We have had a year's worth in May-June-July.

Much, much   more miserable weather here than usual, days of continuous yucky drizzle and few heavy showers ... BUT no real heavy rain

What in the wet season? Heavy rain in the north-east surely not.

Absolutely, waiting for rain to flood the rice paddies in our Surin area

Isaan is a large area.

If you read all the posts, we, here in the North around the Mekong and the Laos border have had way too much and are suffering, and people in the lower SE corner near the Laos/Cambo border have had way too little and are suffering.

The Thai meteorological genii have just discovered that apart from the fact we may get rain during the rainy season,   they are predicting that later today it will get dark and perhaps tomorrow we should expect a period of daylight.    Their long term warning to the population is that,  according to their latest research, it may get cooler later in the year and next year it will warm up again. They are not sure whether this will repeat again as they were watching the Thai edition of the Boomerang channel and heard a mention of weather patterns.  It may take them some time to understand fully what these may mean but the current indications are that they think this is only a Thai phenomena.
