Do SETVs from there take a day to process? I.e. You apply one day in person and come back the next? It's not clear from their website.

Cheers

Yes. They do it there and then. Been there many, many times. You need to make an appointment. They often ask you to step outside for 20 minutes. Then you come back in 20 mins and get it.

As stated, pretty much all the honorary consulates issue tourist visas while you wait. However, the consul must be there to sign off. This is the reason for making an appointment. If you turn up unannounced, you will often still get the visa within 20-30 minutes, but the consul might be out.

I strongly advise making an appointment for Liverpool. There are 2 people there. They don't accept applications on Wednesdays usually. They have duties for Boodles so they are sometimes busy. No need to risk not making an appointment. It is just a one minute phone call to make one.

Time for a beer in one of the many good pubs in Mathew Street opposite.

I recommend The White Star and The Grapes

Or a bacon sarnie in Greggs directly opposite. They have a toilet!

Aren't they separate from Boodles now?

Next door, not upstairs any more.

They haven't been upstairs for donkeys years. However, they still answer phones for Boodles and when the big bosses from Boodles come in (there is a security door from the Consulate to the jewellers), they announce them as their managers. It appears they have split roles as Consulate employees and Boodles employees. It is not clear and I don't want to pry. A mate of mine says one works for Boodles and one works for the Thai Consulate. But they both help each other out.

Hmm, 10 o'clock in the morning. Each to their own. ?

I always make my appointments for 11, but if you're going at 10 then you should head for a pint at Wetherspoons at the bottom end of Mathew Street.

Well if you're going to Matthew Street, there's loads to do

I don't use the Consulate there, being a Londoner (Shut it!! ?) but my sister lives in Wallasey and we visited the area last year.

Oh and there WAS a good Thai restaurant in the town centre https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186337-d1513539-Reviews-Chaophraya_Liverpool-Liverpool_Merseyside_England.html

Knowing my love of Thai food, Sis booked it for lunch with some trepidation but I really enjoyed it.

Sis found it amusing when I spoke some Thai to the waitress, only to discover that the waitress was a Filipina . ?

Thanks for the info. Will probably forgo beer and Greggs and just get my visa! Might grab a coffee in the 20 min wait.

One thing I 100% won't be doing is going to a Thai restaurant, as I'll be there next week!
