Tanoshi forgot to mention: 2 photos

If you want to get a driving license for motorbike and car you probably have to get two certificate of residence (so you need at least 3, maybe 4 photos)

How long does it take to process?

They have templates, so only 10 minutes to enter your details and print.

It should be free and issued on application.

However some IO's are known to charge for same day service.

Some offices do want a photo to put on the certificate of residence. A second one they attach to a copy of it they keep.

Indeed, in Jomtien you need 2 photos for a residence certificate +1 photo per additional certificate.

Photos can be made at immigration for a small fee.

And many foreigners are stupid enough to pay it!

In Jomtien you pay 300THB/certificate or you can go back where you came from without your certificate. At least the certificate is ready after 15-30 minutes wait time.

Yes report them....then you'll have to wait 3 weeks for the bit of paper like in BKK or they will just stop issuing the bit of paper ! which I read happened somewhere "up north" maybe Chaingmai.

300 baht you get it in 30 mins or 0 baht and come back in 3 weeks, I know which option I'll choose.

Maybe Thailand isn't the country for you and maybe it's best you stay in the law abiding western world.

If you ever come to Jomtien, give me a sign... I would love to see you talking to immigration. :-)

Luckily, after 25 here, I'll not need to go to immigration soon.

Carry on encouraging corruption of you want, your choice. I certainly wouldn't pay.

Same in Patong, Phuket. You pay 500b or you learn the hard way with your certificate of residence request.

I don't need one as I have a yellow house book.

I don't need one as I have a work permit.

Why do you need one, are you a long term tourist?

I always pay the 500b and leave immig. in 15 min with my CoR.

I would recommend you to refuse to pay and see what happen to you since the treatment i patong can vary but i doubt very much  you will leave patong immigration same day like me in 15-20 min with your CoR.

Since i am not working and not having a yellow book you need CoR for example:

Open bank account at some banks in TH and can even be helpful abroad.

Get a driving licence in TH

Buy car/motorbike your name in TH
