What to do in Pattaya

Any recommendations on things to do during the day ? First time visit to Thailand and decided to do 7 days in Pattaya and 4 in Bangkok. Plan to go fishing in castaway one of the days and maybe one of the islands another. Is there any day trips anyone can recommend?  Also has anyone ever been to the island with monkeys as it will save me a trip to lopburi.

You can go to Kao Samuk near Bangsaen to see plenty of monkeys.  It's not an island though.

I usually take guests to the Navy Memorial at the top of Pratumnak Hill.  I also take people to the top of the tower at Pattaya Park.  Both have great views of the city and bay.

A ferry ride to Koh Larn is 30 THB each way and a nice cheap day trip.  Sure, everyone will moan about the Chinese tourists but if you can rise above that it's quite nice.

Almost all of the dive shops will take you snorkeling for the day at about 1,000 THB.  They provide equipment and lunch.

Sanctuary of truth is the largest wooden castle in the world.  It's interesting.
A good day trip is out to Buddha Mountain and you can visit the Chinese Temple (actually a museum, Viharn Sien Pattaya), Silver Lake Vineyard and Wat Yan Sang Wararam Woramahawihan.

Have a good trip.

For me, 7 days in Pattaya would mean a day or 2 of shopping and the rest just a short ride over to Koh Larn Island.  Relaxing and you wouldn't even know you're in Pattaya (area).  If you want a pool, I recommend Bee Orchid Resort in the village.....or.....no pool, right on the beach is Xanadu Beach Resort at the very end of Samae Beach. Always do one of these 2 when there and will never change.  (also Monkey Beach [aka "Nuan Beach"] on Koh Larn Island  still has a few monkeys hanging around down at the end of the beach too when there just a few months ago)

First time trip ? Have you been to SE Asia before ?

Thai Visa is an absolute font of information:

But we need more info.

What exactly are you hoping for this trip?

Age?

Cultural interests - there are a few nearby places, temples, Sanctuary of Truth etc etc

Food/ Restaurants- need to find out  the best recommendations - 5* or local ?

Will you have transport?

Shopping?

Are you hoping to find yourself on a fabulous tropical beach? ( tricky in Pattaya)

Is it in the back of your mind - perhaps would like to interact with the locals - then we need to know if you are straight, gay or perhaps trans .

Pattaya is tricky for first time visitors - there are loads of hidden gems - an example small bars on the beach in Na Jomtien .

OP- more info required - and then Thai Visa will come up with the goods.

Sadly probably nothing more will be heard from the OP

Regards

Firstly one thing not to do - Do not play bridge with the elderly.   This will incur the wrath of the Army and Police and most likely get you arrested.

As for Monkeys can I suggest a visit to the "Monkey House" on the corner of Soi 9 and Beach road.   Any local will tell you where to find it.  And it is free   ?

Jump.

Or get pushed.

Get married, stab wife.

Die in drunken brawl

Kill in drunken brawl

Drug bust

Sex bust

Porn producer bust

Pool party bust (clothed).

Trade passport for motorcycle/jetski

Fight beach vendor

Fight ladyboy

F* ladyboy

Wear gold jewellery and bet how long it takes to get it snatched - usually by a passing ladyboy.

So that's two ways they can F* you... and there's even more.

Get busted for betting.

Die, or lose limb, or get permanently paralytic, on a bike or minibus (available nationwide).

Oh,  never swim in the dirty bay,  it's DANGEROUS

Don't go to Ko Larn.  It is a super big waste of time and boring. The beaches suck there.  Really nothing to see....unless 10,000 Chinese is what you are looking for.

100 percent wrong advice except for the one Chinese speedboat dominated beach. At least seven beaches and they are clean and have few people and no Chinese.

What the hell are you talking about... I was there last weekend and all I could see was Chinese on the beach.  And it is also true that the beaches are nothing special. You should consider going to Railay Beach in Krabi... by far the best beach in all of Thailand!

Did you go straight to the Chinese speedboat beach and no where else?. Easy island to get around and except for the one busy Chinese beach the Chinese and few others go to the other beaches. Try circling the island and stopping at the beaches and you will know where the hell I am talking about.

Thanks for getting back , oh my word - 20 yr old in Pattaya - they don’t call it sin city for nothing .

I have a horrible suspicion you may not have time for temples etc - but do some research Trip Advisor etc. There are some nice places nearby .

Young man be careful - DO not hire a motorbike - ever .

If you go zip lining etc - remember that health and safety is almost non existent in the Kingdom.

Lastly do not forget Thailand is a big country- there are some stunning provinces - I like Loei very much .

So save up and come back to explore the region - Myanmar is stunning .

Have fun

Now we have to take it a little bit easy here. First, why in the world would you consider going to Lopburi to see monkeys? You already ask what to do in Pattaya? In that city you will find a great selection of over grown monkeys, druk monkeys and sex addicted monkeys. I guess we fixed the monkey problem right there.

Day trips are overrated in Pattaya. Most of the people there take their trips at night and sleeps during the day.

There is an island, though. However, that one is exactly like Pattaya. Overgrown with bars and girls. It´s called Koh Samet.

I sincerely hope my information will help you. Cheers!

Loei is one of many interesting cities and towns in Thailand but not much by way of nightlife but it's fun during the ghost mask festival

Mekong whiskey has long been replaced by Sansgom . And is  perfectly fine with plenty of ice and soda as is Regency and Blend 285. Contrary to what people may say they are good products and never adulterated unlike foreign imports.

I never said there is anything wrong with it, just don't drink it in your first trip.....
