Cabinet okays new ministerial appointments

THE CABINET endorsed the appointment of new permanent secretaries for several ministries yesterday as part of the annual reshuffle of government officials.

 

The appointments will go into effect from October 1 onwards. 

 

Assistant Government Spokesman Colonel Atisit Chaiyanuwat said the decision was made at one of the Cabinet’s mobile meetings. 

 

As part of the reshuffle, the new permanent secretary for Agriculture and Cooperatives is Anan Suwannarat, who currently serves as the Rice Department’s director general, while the director of the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP) Chaiwat Tongkamkoon will be the new permanent secretary for Transport. 

 

Public Health Ministry’s Deputy Permanent Secretary Dr Tares Krassanairawiwong will be the new secretary-general of Food and Drug Administration, while another deputy permanent secretary for the ministry, Panpimol Wipulakorn, will take over as director-general of the Health Department.

 

Another deputy permanent secretary for Public Health Ministry, Marut Jirasrattasiri, will become director-general of the Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Department, and fellow deputy permanent secretary Opas Karnkawipong will become director-general of the Medical Sciences Department.

 

The Cabinet has also given the green light for Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Department’s director-general Kiattibhoom Vongrachit to take the helm of the Mental Health Department. 

 

Nattawuth Prasertsiripong, an inspector-general at the Public Health Ministry, will take over as director-general of the Health Service Support Department. Three other inspectors-general of the ministry, namely Pisit Sriprasert, Paisarn Dunkum and Prapon Tangsrikertikul, will take over as new deputy permanent secretaries. 

 

Atisit said the Transport Ministry would also have a new line-up. 

 

Sarawut Songsivilai, the current inspector-general at the Transport Ministry, will take over as chief of the OTP; while another inspector-general, Ampawan Wannako, will take over as head of the Department of Airports. 

 

Marine Department’s Director-General Chirute Visalachitra will become inspector-general of Transport, while his current job will be taken over by the ministry’s Deputy Permanent Secretary Somsak Hommuang. 

 

Highways Department’s Director-General Thanin Somboon will become a deputy permanent secretary for Transport, while his current job will be taken over by the ministry’s Inspector-General Anon Luangboriboon. 

 

The ministry’s current deputy permanent secretary, Peraphon Thawornsupacharoen, will swap his post with Land Transport Department’s Director-General Sanit Promwong.

 

Atisit added that the Cabinet had also approved the Interior Ministry’s decision to appoint Sukanda Vorachetbancha as the new Samut Songkhram governor. This appointment too will take effect from October 1.
