Other than trying to sell a position in the trump administration, and agreeing to keep the Russians updated on the trump campaign, agreed, as far as we know today.

 

I think Manafort has another trial, so the jury is out, so to speak. (Not sure about the witness tampering charge(s)?)

 

And he will probably be indicted in the future for Conspiracy (Collusion) with the Russians, along with DJTJ, Jared, Stoney and a dozen other members of the trump crime syndicate.

However, a pardon, or pardons, might make trump look guilty-ish, so he'll have to make a political calculation.

The current trial is more about where Manafort received funds from.

 

The Washington trial is more about where those funds went (offshore accounts, shell companies). This is where Trump could be exposed as a recipient of those funds.

And the documents, in that case, are said to voluminous, incriminating and insightful. A DC jury might not be so "understanding"?

As of today, the following people connected to the Trump campaign /Trump Administration are convicted felons:

Former campaign chairman.

Former deputy campaign chairman, part of the transition team/ inauguration committee.

Former National Security advisor.

Former foreign policy advisor.

 

Also, former personal lawyer, fixer and campaign aid Michael Cohen has pled guilty to campaign finance violations.

 

Numerous cabinet officials and close WH aids have been fired/forced to resign under clouds of ethics violations.

 

Yet more are under ethics or criminal investigations.

 

 

...and we are still only in the second year of his presidency.

Mueller is still gathering evidence on the hacking indictment.  It's a complex cybercrime counterterrorism investigation.  The fact that the Russian side has been wrapped up shows considerable progress.  Mueller is waiting to have his chance to interview Assange, who will be extradited in due course.  Matt Gaetz (unnamed Congressional candidate #1) is already going down for receiving the DNCC hacked emails.  Stone is the next to be indicted, but Mueller may want Assange before he indicts Stone.

That's because it's not accurate.  Manafort was convicted on bank fraud and tax fraud charges which occurred during his tenure as Trump's campaign manager.  He received $30 million from Deripaska while working for the Trump campaign, and failed to report the income.  He applied for most of his loans (bank fraud) in the 2014-2016 timeframe, because the Yanukovych gravy train had run out.

Including Trump, although he now lies about it.  Manafort was campaign chairman from March through August 2016.  He had control of the daily operations of the campaign as well as an expanded $20 million budget, hiring decisions, advertising, and media strategy.  Like most hires in the Trump campaign, Manafort was not vetted.  Manafort was the key player in locking up Trump's GOP nomination.  Trump was anticipating a delegate fight with Bush, and Manafort was brought in to pin down the delegates, who were threatening to jump ship.  Manafort continued to serve as campaign chairman and was dismissed on the same day as Trump's first security briefing.

You can take some solace in the fact that the Manafort jury bought his counsel's arguments about the credibility of Gates, as there was a mistrial on all counts in which Gates had co-conspired with Manafort.  Manafort has another trial which relates mostly to his work in Ukraine as an uregistered lobbyist.  Trump will have to wait until after the midterms to pardon Manafort, but Manafort will face state charges and still go to prison.

 

Doesn't it bother you that Trump surrounded himself with criminals (Cohen, Rep. Chris Collins, Rep. Duncan Hunter) and Russian agents (Manafort, Gates, Papadopolous, Flynn, Carter Page and the NRA/Butin/Torshin)?

Indeed.  If, as Trump's supporters keep telling us (and it's a very big if), Trump is in no way whatsoever involved in any of the multiple indictments and convictions of people who are just coincidently linked to him, then why the rallying against Mueller in every single thread?  Trump told us that he was going to clean up politics.  Mueller is doing exactly that.  Surely, if Trump has nothing to fear, he and his supporters should welcome the investigation, and cheer loudly when another corrupt criminal conman is brought to justice?  It's more than a little foolish to be ranting against someone who is doing exactly what you yourself promised to do.  But, then again, Trump is more than a little fool.

No mention of fighting the remaining 10 charges in a possible retrial.

With his next near-term trial in DC whose issues are more mundane than those just tried, Manafort has to be thinking whether he has any options with Mueller for a plea bargain or with Trump for a pardon. Those options are time constrained!

Cohen's recent voluntary admission of guilt to all charges brought against him and what may be Cohen's possible "coordination" with Mueller going forward concerning the Trump election campaign's activities may further pressure Manafort in how he chooses his options.

The likely sentence seems to be 7 - 9 years.

 

The government can take their time deciding to re-try on the 10 "hung" charges.

 

 

 

 

Not to mention there are additional charges that weren't in this case for Manafort. There is supposedly twice as much evidence in the next trial. He's going to be in prison for a long time.

Why put 'crimes' in quotes?  These are definitely crimes, and Trump's campaign manager is now a convicted felon.

Yes, but...the government can decide to retry within the week, and then, later on, decide to drop that retrial. So all they have to do by August 29, 2018 is put in writing that they want to retry. After that, they can take their time deciding whether to proceed.

 

That said, I suspect they will choose not to retry on these 10 counts, more from a PR perspective. But that's just a guess.

I want Roger Stone, but it's so hard to pin it down to one.  Let those who deserve it be royally fukt (whichever side of the aisle they come from of course.)  The present incumbents should be first port of call of course, lest they inflict any more damage.

And the dominoes start falling...and Michael Cohen is fully turned and singing about...wait for it...collusion with Russia! 

Witchhunt! Best people! How many now convicted felons? And Cohen about to turn State's evidence on Russia. A link direct between Russian mafia money, Ukraine politics, the NRA and Trump. The house of cards is falling in slow motion. What a great show. 

Mueller is very smart.   He knows that at any moment Trump could go completely , so Manafort was not prosecuted by Mueller or his team.   So, if Trump manages to fire Mueller, his prosecution will continue.   

 

I suspect that he is spreading these cases around to protect the integrity of the overall investigation.   I wouldn't doubt if Jared K. or Don Jr. are in Mueller's firing line, but Mueller knows that if he goes after them it will be all out war with Trump.
