Driver's License Questions?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'll take an exam for the first time.

1)From 90 questions how many do I have to answer correctly? 85?

2)As I heard 4 hours video watching then 1 hour take an exam. Am I right? But as they told me 4 hours video no English language.

3)I applied for motorcycle and car license. Am I have to take 2 different exam or only 1 exam include both of them?

Thank you!

1. You have to get 85 out of 90 questions.

2. Two hour video to watch last I heard and it's not in English, they want you to watch the pictures in the video.

You have one hour to answer the 90 questions.

3. You have take an exam and practical test for a car and the same for a motorcycle,

Difficult for most westerners because of driving Thai logic,  doing on-line one as shown does help.

Also good if you take a Thai person with you.

Goodluck.

It's the second time that I read "85 of 90 questions".

In 2015 when I did my motorcycle license it was 45 of 50.

(and that was an increase compared to the conditions before, until 2014?)

90 questions it the total pool of questions available in English.

(in Thai it's about 1000)

Since when has this been further increased?

A link or source please or at which office was such a test required.

Could mean that is special for foreigners?

I am following the news quite closely and I would be surprised to have missed this (at least as a general rule for all candidates).

90 is false, thats only the TOTAL questions in english...

You need 45 correct to pass the exam, and be carefull some questions are really poor translated and you WILL answer them wrong even if for use it' correct..

Example of 1 quesrion that i remember is like this :

what you do if an ambulance using siren is appoaching from behind:

1) pull over and wait till the ambulabce has past (logical this is true for us)

BUT the answer for them is :

stop immediatly and wait for the ambula ce to pass..

No you can not get any help, do not try to cheat they walk around sometimes and if they catch you...

I read recently that someone who had failed twice in the screen answer exam was helped at a DLT.

With my UK DL I remember getting help with my 1st Thai DL when I failed the traffic lights test because I said  'amber'  instead of  'yellow', they didn't have a clue what an amber was. ?

What's the difference? Oh yes, stop immediately in the middle lane !

When I was waiting to do the traffic lights test an older Thai guy was struggling, his wife shuffled over and stood next to him, she then proceeded to tell him ( not whispering ) the answers to which he repeated out loud.
Much to the amusement of the watching crowd.

He passed with flying colours !!

technically cheating i suppose or can you hire say a helper who knows the answers

That's not "technically cheating" it is cheating.

Let's hope that you never complain about Thai drivers' lack of ability.

That's taking 'the moral high ground' a little too far.... The questions are daft and would have nothing greater than a minimal impact on someones driving ability.

The test, both practical and questionnaire sections are farcical.

That link is for the computer test questions. After you take the computer exam you will have to drive your car through a road test course and then drive your motorbike through another road course.

Yes there are other links but courtesy of  'Rich 237'  I think this a good one, I got quite a few wrong and took a guess at some, never had to do it so someone who has to should study the link.

Goodluck.

Thanks guys!

If you have problems getting Thai licence and you have home countries licence you should consider international driver permit.

Need one for each motorbike and car.

Good luck.

In fact for driving in Thailand you will need one ....beware conflicting information... I read maximum 60 days validity on a Tourist visa and 90 days with a Non-Imm O visa.

No, you get 50 random questions picked from 90 in the database

You need 45 correct to pass

Some questions will be selected 2 or even 3 times ^^

I have a theory about the  repeated questions.. its my theory (hurr-huummm)  that the repeated question  shows you have given the "incorrect" answer..so if you answer the repeated questions the same way each time, you'll soon have enough "wrong" answers to fail..not to mention the military tank.

After checking with Geneva licence treaty document,

Police station officers, insurance companies, and Thai gov law acts you will find no evidence of any such 60 or 90 day rules, but if there is proof I'm happy to check it.

Unless you setup your usual, normal, permanent address in Thailand you are good to go for the year.
