Popular Post rooster59
VIDEO: Speeding Thai minivan driver rages at foreign tourist who told him to slow down Image: Sanook A minivan driver has been caught on camera berating a foreign tourist who complained about his dangerous driving. The incident, footage of which was shared to Facebook, occurred when the foreigner said the man was driving too fast and told him slow down during the journey from Surat Thani to Phuket. A photo shared by Sanook News showed the van’s speedometer at 130 kph. During the trip the foreign tourist reportedly told the driver of the interprovincial mini van to slow down as an accident could occur. However, rather than trying to drive safely, responsibly and within the legal speed limit, the driver stopped the vehicle and launched an angry tirade at the foreigner. “If you are scared of dying, why don’t you get off?”, the diver said. “Thai people don't worry, why you scared?”, he added. The confrontation ended when another passenger intervened and the driver continued on the journey. But that wasn’t all. Many of the Thai passengers also complained the driver was rude, bad mannered and had they had been overcharged 150 baht for the journey. People commenting on social media heavily criticised the driver and said the Department of Land Transport needs to do more about rogue minivan drivers. Others said the footage will ruin the image of Thailand, particularly among tourists. A quick reference to the country's accident statistics might provide the answer. Had an Air Asia minivan driver - or subcontracted by them doing the same from Mukdahan to Nakorn Panhom. There was no reason too. They had phoned ahead and their was an hour to wait or more when we got to the airport. That said, he nearly got in a accident twice because of his speed. Both things you could see about to happen but because of speed had a tough time avoiding it. I felt like we had a very good chance of dying before we got on the flight. Another day in Thailand. 7
Popular Post jouec
If I asked a taxi driver to slow down in my country they would tend to listen. If they didn't I would be able to contact the company or the police and action would be taken. Fat chance over here, just a torrent of abuse Edited September 2, 2018 by jouec 10

There is more chance of seeing a flock of flying pigs. I seem to remember that there has already a suggestion to take these minivans off the roads, but until the authorities learn the expression " Actions speak louder than words " then these dangerous minivan drivers will be free to carry on killing and injuring hundreds of people every year.

Hence my unsympathetic post in another, minivan related tragedy thread. The locals make they're travel choices solely based on budget and expediency... and every time they get out of a minivan unscathed, they make the little invisible inner wai to whatever deity they reckoned was looking out for them, carefully note the minivans rego number to share the last 2 or 3 digits with their fellow, bi-monthly, good luck hunters. 6

Popular Post richard_smith237
It is these fools who kill people... Ultimately they are murderers... This guy needs to be taken off the road immediately. I fear the DLT will save face by giving him a small fine, he will give an apology and go back to trying to kill people with his dangerous and careless driving - no one will learn, the consequences will continue to be so insignificant the incentive for improved safety will continue to be absent.
