BANGKOK, 7 September 2018 (NNT) - The Meteorological Department issued a warning of widespread heavy rains from Friday until Monday in most parts of Thailand, including Bangkok.

The Meteorological Department forecast rainstorms with strong winds in the northern, northeastern, central, eastern and southern regions as a result of the influence of high pressure from China which has blanketed upper Laos and Vietnam, forcing the monsoon trough to move downward over the northern, northeastern, eastern and central regions of Thailand.

The changing weather condition will affect Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Payao, Prae, Nan, Uttradit, Pitsanulok, Ratchaburi, Phetchabun, Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bung Karn, Nakhon Panom and Sakon Nakhon.

Most provinces in the northern, northeastern, central, eastern and southern regions will face heavy rains from Saturday until Monday.

About this time every rainy season our driveway can turn into a sheet of ice. Our worker Jaew has been power washing it for several years and does a good job. The only problem is that she believes that the rain helps wash away the green scum. We came home one day and out in the pouring rain was Jaew spraying with the washer. Here is why she does not want to stop.

Originally, it took me about five days to power wash everything. So when we hired Jaew to work on this project we knew about how long it would take her to finish the job. The first few years it did take her about as long as it took me. Then one year it was down to four days to cleanup. Now she is trying for three days. Why?

Her stance was that she had learned how to do a better job, but by doing so, she was actually making less money. Basically Jaew wants the full five day wages for 3-4 days of work.  And I agreed to this proposition. She doesn't like to slow down because of the rain.

I got tired of arguing with her about electricity and water, so I now just unplug the machine when it starts raining...

It poured in Korat

There was a thirty minute rain band came through central Nan province this morning (east to west). But since then the radar is showing only isolated convention generated thunderstorms. Forecast does not currently ring true.

A rain? Where? when? the Chaknock reservoir is 80% empty...

They may have a point you know - I've noticed before that it quite often rains in the rainy season.
