BANGKOK, 11th September 2018 (NNT) - Thailand is preparing to send its representative to attend the World Heritage Committee at the 22nd session of the General Assembly of State Parties to the World Heritage Convention in France.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen.Prawit Wongsuwon, presided on Monday over a meeting of the National Committee on the World Heritage Convention. The meeting agreed to send a representative of the country to apply for membership of the World Heritage Committee next year in Paris.

The meeting instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to request support from the State Parties for the Thai representative.

The meeting asked the Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning Office to request Cabinet approval for Thailand's application.

A working group will be formed to nominate suitable candidates to represent Thailand in the World Heritage Committee.

Can some one tell them that the World Heritage committee does not pay back handers so in reality there is nothing of interest in it for government members

Ah, but you are forgetting a few vital opportunities arising from this........

Working Groups - at least 3

Committees - Have to be at least 5

Fact Finding Shopping trips to Paris - At least 4 times a year.......

The list is endless...........
