Suvat and other 30 former Mps announce their decision to resign from TRT

BANGKOK: -- Suvat Liptapanlop, deputy leader of Thai Rak Thai, declares on Monday that he and 30 other former Mps will resign from the party today.

The group will submit resignation letter at the party headquarter this afternoon.

He announced his decision on his birthday as he turns 52 Monday.

Thirty other TRT Mps who would resign with him were former members of Chat Pattana party.

He claimed that the decision came after TRT leader Thaksin Shinawatra pledged to retire from the politic.

"When we join TRT, we merge with it. Now leader of TRT has said he would step down, so we decide to resign," Suvat announced the decision before dozens of well-wishers.

Wang Lam Takong quits TRT and forms Reconciliation Faction

Wang Lam Takong Faction leader Suwat Liptapanlop announced that 30 of his faction members have resigned from the Thai Rak Thai Party.

Mr. Suwat celebrated his 52nd birthday today (Feb 9) and took the occasion to announce the resignation of Wang Lam Takong members from the Thai Rak Thai Party. Mr. Suwat reasoned that the Thai Rak Thai Party currently has a strong leader, and former Thai Rak Thai leader Thaksin Shinawatra, the person who invited his faction to the party, has walked out of politics.

Mr. Suwat said his faction would like to see reconciliation in the Thai society. Mr. Suwat said Wang Lam Takong Faction has joined hands with Wang Phaya Nak Faction leader Pinit Charusombat, Social Action Party former leader Suwit Khunkitti, and National Development Party former deputy leader Preecha Laohapongchana to form the Reconciliation Faction. The new faction currently has around 70 members, and their mission is to create social unity in Thailand. Mr. Suwat however refused that the new faction is the Council for National Security’s (CNS) nominee.

Meanwhile, Mr. Pinit and Mr. Preecha affirmed that this faction is not a new political party, and it will be opened for other politicians to become a member.

Figure out that garbled doublespeak.

Since political parties in Thailand have no ideology, they are little more than vehicles used in the pursuit of power by an individual or a faction. When one vehicle is worn out, you get a new one.

So then the TRT would be turned over to a used party salesman?
