BANGKOK, 13th September 2018 (NNT) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has launched an inspection of student dormitories across the city, warning those that have yet to register that they face a hefty fine.

Deputy Governor of Bangkok Sakoltee Pattiyakul is inspecting student dormitories in Bangkok, along with social development and welfare administrators from all 50 of the city’s district offices. They are checking to see if the establishments conform to the 2015 Dormitories Act of the Department of Children and Youth in terms of safety, cleanliness and amenities.

Bangkok is estimated to have over 1,000 unregistered dormitories. District offices are now promoting proper registration and are preparing to survey all dorms in the near future. Those found without proper registration will be fined 50,000 baht.
