but isnt water vapour the main greenhouse gas anyway and doesnt more cloud  means less heat reaches the earth and is reflected back to space?

Yes. The greenhouse effect, of the total amount of water vapor, far exceeds the greenhouse effect of the current, minuscule quantities of CO2 in the atmosphere. There are both positive and negative feed backs. More water vapor, without cloud formation, would amplify any warming. But more clouds obviously are formed, and the presence of more clouds reflects larger amounts of heat from the sun, preventing it reaching the earth's surface. Mother nature has the sense to always create a balance, unlike some alarmists. ?

Climate change. Please try to follow along.

Uhmmm....seriously? How exactly?

It doesn’t seem that climate change has ever killed the oceans before.

Even during Glacial Periods and warm times when there was no ice at all on the planet and dinosaurs were walking around.... and atmospheric CO2 was in the THOUSANDS of ppm...the oceans were still alive with life.

In my personal collection I have fossil coral from 350 million years ago. I have a whole fossil clam from 120 million years ago.

Are you aware of how much climate change the oceans have experienced in the last 600 million years?

And sometimes change as fast as 10 degrees in 10 years or less.

     And you think that somehow,  climate change is now a threat to the oceans? ? ?    5 5 5 5 5  ?

Thanks for brightening my day with your joke.

You mean parallel universes ?

Well apparently, something to do with Quantum Mechanics/Physics....reality consists of multi-verses. Universes without end. And we already exist in some of them, as well as this one.

It’s been a while since I read about it. I should spend some time and learn the latest in the subject.

Funny how Theravada Buddhism seems to have no big problem with Quantum Mechanics/Physics.

yep, maybe we are a bit off topic, but in the end we should not worry too much for climate change, as long as we practice self awareness.

Did your fossil clam not tell you about the mass marine extinction 252 million years ago ending over 95% of marine species or the other 4 mass marine extinctions within the past 600 million years?  These mass extinctions happen when carbon levels in sediments pass a threshold where the absorption of great amounts of carbon very quickly results in a temperature increase, a lowering of oxygen levels and an increase in acidification.  The events in history you reference, where temperature changed very quickly, resulted in mass extinctions, those large climate changes not only threatened the oceans, they killed almost all life in them.

Jokes.

If you are trying to compare the  little 0.85 degree C increase in temperature between 1880 - 2012 (I.P.C.C. numbers) following the approx 550 years of the “Little Ice Age”, and 405 ppm atmospheric CO2 to things like the Siberian Traps Eruptions and Permian-Triassic Extinction Event ..... wow ! !

You’ve gotta lay off those Hollywood disaster movies and ground yourself in reality and common sense.

Leonardo DiCaprio is an actor and has an interest in a leftist politico/economic agenda.

     Don’t fall for the crap.

By reading and comprehending each post.

I’m sorry. I don’t let other’s posts necessarily do my thinking for me. I’m a thinker and so I’ve studied over the past sixty years or so and do my own thinking.

But you’re perfectly free to believe all the leftist politico/economic Gore Bull Warming/Climate Change indoctrination propaganda stuff you wish.

Please do have a nice day.

I suggested you keep up with the thread, I suggested you try to read and comprehend the posts.

You get bent, and go on about why you don’t want to read other people’s posts.

If you don’t want to rest the posts, why are you asking about following the thread?

Leftist indeed. No wonder you’re not able to formulate an argument and have to resort to name-calling.

You have a nice day as well.

555555 ?

If you're calling all the science on climate change propaganda you need to work on thinking more deeply.

Well, it seems that 'science' has been used as a propaganda instrument in the past.

We are not all scientists.

Data can be easily manipulated by the powers that be.. and so on

Since you are not a scientist perhaps it's best to take for granted that what people who are scientists say is true, unless of course you don't trust anyone or anything, in which case there's no point in enjoining any debate on any subject.

You fail to even comprehend what I typed. Pathetic!

Where exactly did I say don’t want to read other’s posts ? ?

Sorry I can’t remember making any such statement.

Nope, i don't take for granted what people who call themselves scientists say.

Of course a degree of trust is necessary to enjoy a debate, as you say, still i prefer to remain very skeptical about a few things.

Lots of degrees letters behind one’s name is no guarantee of honesty and high moral standards.

All those letters do is get you your first job.

By the way, a lot of scientists don’t go along with the climate alarmism.

If you wish, I’ll post a list.

And remember, it was not long ago, relatively, that almost all scientists in the world claimed (“consensus”) that the continents did not move, and were fixed in place. In elementary school in the 1950’s we were still taught that it was only coincidence that it looked like Africa and Europe and North America and South America might have once been joined together.

Agree on the first part of your post.

In the 60s we were told that S.America and Africa were once united, i never took it for granted, and apparently they are still debating about that.

So now you avoid/dodge my question to your claim that I don’t want to read other’s posts.

Please allow me to ask once more:

Where exactly did I say I don’t want to read other’s posts?

   Back up your accusation!

Thank you.

Why do you call me “right wing” ? ?

Fact is, I don’t like either the far left or the far right.

     I’m as much anti-Nazi/Facist as I am anti-Socialist/communist.

Fact is, you don’t know me, and you have no idea what level of college/university education I have. And you have no idea of my continued education even after I finished university.

But let me put it this way: my personal library and my collection of fossils, rocks and minerals, ancient coins from Greece and Rome, and my small meteorite collection ...drives my wife nuts. (I also own examples of both NWA 482 and Zagami.)

I’m avoiding nothing, if you want to read the posts read them. If you don’t want to read them, don’t read them.

But, if you don’t read them, don’t complain about not being able to follow the thread.

Clear now?

I've seen it, it's shorter than the opposite teams' list!

Doesn’t matter. So what if my list of scientists is shorter?

Wrong is wrong even if the whole world would agree to it.

It only takes one scientist to be correct.

Pretty well all the world’s scientists claimed Professor Alfred Wegener was nuts. They laughed him out of the lecture halls and did their best to stop him from speaking and getting published.

Sadly, he did not live to see vindication.

Finally, in the 1960’s, he was proven to have been right all along, even though almost the whole world had laughed at him.

Professor Wegener had been right all along.

Continental Drift/Plate Tectonics is now accepted as fact in the scientific world and in schools.

Nope ! You claimed I don’t want to read other’s posts.

But you are not capable of showing where I made such a statement.

You make up crap, like most leftists/socialists do.

     I’m not surprised.

I said no such thing. I was only repeating what you said.

Go back an look, I’m not doing your research for you.

So you’ve got nothing. I know you’ve got nothing. Because I never made any such statement.

If I had, you would easily copy and paste here to prove your accusation.

But you won’t do that....because it’s not there.

     You’re making up crap.

You’re the one that can’t follow the thread, not me.

Shouldn’t you be watching Fox News or something?
