Actually a black man was confirmed to the Supreme Court despite evidence of extensive sexual harassment  (Clarence Thomas).  I don't think this is a racial issue. And while disregard for women's right to be free of sexual coercion and harassment is certainly there I don't think that is the main driver behind the rush to confirm Kavanaugh,  either.

 

I think the bottom line is an extreme focus on trying to "stack the deck" of SCOTUS with people who will be sure to vote a certain way on "key" issues of importance to constituencies that are in turn important to the Republican political power base. Being resisted by the opposite party for essentially the same reason.

 

Which is an utter perversion of how it is supposed to work and completely undermines  the Constitutionally mandated idea of a truly impartial and fair judiciary which ought to be above partisan politics....and a court that would review cases purely on their constitutional merits without regard to personal bias. 

 

There is something more fundamentally wrong here than appointment of people of bad personal character to SCOTUS.  And it has been going on for a long time now (though at an increasing pace and with increasing disregard for any other consideration or factor) and been engaged in by both parties.

38 years ago. Times are a changing, but you can still hang around any cult time or thing you like. Suit yourself and write some more Latin. Can also read what Rot Schild and their followers said these recent years. Aren't they bliss.

The elephant in the room is WHY did she not report it when it happened? The timing of the accusation is significant, and if she can delay the hearing long enough, it will be too late to get confirmation before the election, which is obviously, IMO, the whole point of the accusation. Had she made the accusation when he was first put up for the position, she might have some justification, but to wait till just before the confirmation hearing is a huge red flag to her motive. So it comes down to accusation without proof. That wouldn't be accepted in a criminal court, so why is it acceptable in the congress?

I can think of several people I'd like to accuse of the bad things they did to me when I was young, but lacking proof it would be pointless. 

 

I wonder if a man was accusing a woman up for SCOTUS of something she did to him 35 years ago if he would get the same attention to his claim? I doubt it. There are two standards of proof now. They are even saying that females must always be believed, just because they are female. Insanity writ large.
