Punishment meth intoxication?

Featured Replies

Hi

Anyone knows what the punishment is for testing positive for methamphetamine in Thailand? No possession just that. (asking for a friend, yes really).

Regards,

A couple of years ago, I was heading home at Sukhumvit soi 22 with my girlfriend, where police stopped us on the street. They were not much interested in me, but my girlfriend was using meth with her sister sometimes, and had been with her sis the day before, and therefore probably still had meth in her blood. The two police officers kept looking in her belonging, as she could look like a girl who took such things, but found nothing. They took us to a place with a few toilets (just 50 meter away), and wanted her to take an urine test. She told me later she just put water in the test thing, so it showed negative. Then the police officers wanted to take her to the police station to take a blood test, but she then paid them 3000 baht and they let her go.

So, to answer your question: she bribed her way out of it. That is the style in Thailand. Often, in Thailand, people do that instead of getting arrested.

Pay before you hit the station
