Grab Thailand added more than 2,000 more motorcycle-taxi drivers to its GrabBike (Win) fleet as driver-partners between May and August.

Due to the enthusiastic response, the company is extending the campaign.

“Grab is aligned with the government’s guidelines to regulate motorcycle taxis,” said Tarin Thaniyavarn, country head of Grab Thailand. “The government announced on May 31 that it was supportive of motorcycle-taxi drivers registering on ride-sharing platforms We’ve launched a campaign to welcome motorcycle taxi drivers as driver-partners. They can earn extra income with the delivery services GrabExpress (Bike) and GrabFood.”

Grab is committed to improving the livelihoods of motorcycle-taxi drivers in line with the Thailand 4.0 agenda.

Its driver welfare initiatives include a Bt1-million education sponsorship programme for the children of drivers, health insurance, motorcycle insurance, a mobile phone instalment plan and anti-pollution masks.

Grab is the only ride-hailing platform in the industry to offer personal accident insurance that covers both drivers and passengers on top of the Compulsory Motor Insurance.

But isn't it going to bump up against the entrenched powers that have controlled and extorted the motosai guys for the past few decades?

More street sword fights?

I was still assuming Grab is illegal now the government supporting it...
