Garage owner fights back at topless farangs: You're trespassing on my property

A garage owner who was ordered by two belligerent westerners to shut up his garage because of noise has said he fears for the safety of his wife and child on his property.

So he has gone to the local police to say that the foreign men were trespassing.

He wants them kept away from his family and is waiting to see what Bang Lamung police do in the matter.

Garage owner Patcharaphon Changmai, 31, was widely praised for keeping his cool as the video of the topless farangs went viral.

One appeared to be Scottish and was ordering the Thais present to hand over ID. They were filming and seemed to be calling police themselves in the video.

Patcharaphon told Pattaya News that he had already shut up his shop for the night. But there was an emergency job after a customer called him who was going upcountry. So he opened up again to accommodate him.

The foreigners arrived in a pick-up at 8pm and blocked the entrance to the repair yard. He said they appeared drunk and were filming and speaking English and making various demands.

Patcharaphon said that he called the police himself as he feared that the eight Thais present might lose their cool.

A police patrol arrived but the foreigners were not interested in dealing with them. They insisted on only dealing with top brass officers.

With the situation only getting worse it was decided to go to Bang Lamung police station where the garage owner filed charges of trespass.

He said he was concerned for the safety of his wife and child as he might have to leave them alone.

He said that he got on well with all the neighbors and did everything he could to mitigate any noise emanating from the property.

Reporters were shown to an insulated testing room and agreed that noise was kept to a bare minimum. Bigger jobs were handled by his yard in Rayong said the owner admitting there might be some noise of vehicles coming and going in the daytime.

But he denied there had ever been a problem at his shop - until now.

best way to curb the crude behavior is to take money out of his pocket (fine), he'll never return.

Idiot foreigners by the looks of it on the picture this garage is not close to houses and seems to be a bit secluded. I can understand people complaining about noise if its next to their home / hotel ect.

Seems they had no direct involvement and were looking for trouble.. not sure if its worth a fine as nothing much transpired but they do set a bad example.

That was ugly to watch.

2. Scottish man is very lucky that the Thai guy was a reasonable man.

3. Scottish man is very fortunate he did not wake up this morning in hospital.

4. Talking like that, in that tone and volume, on my property, i would have punched the guy. Sorry.

Says it all what morons they are. They should have been tested for alcohol and thrown in the slammer if they where positive. Then blacklisted and escorted out of the country.

Must give him credit for this. Normally the idiot farangs would have been beaten up severely, and rightly so.

The noisey Scot with his phone out was understandably upset as he had lost one of his nipple piercings.

People should be more understanding.

I am sure he will have lots of morale support when the lads in his local boozer back home see that clip....

2 absolute tools. Shorter guy appears to be more intelligent of the 2.

Owner of the shop is indeed a smart guy, kept cool and filed charges . The 2 tools will be learning very fast

Might be a while before he makes it back to his local. Trespass for some reason taken very seriously by Thai law , bail alone is automatically set at 250000

I think you've got it. Losing one of his nipple rings put the Scot in a bad mood and he was venting about the noise, anyone ever heard of Thais making noise?

The other guy sounds perhaps south african, both were obviously fed up with the noise

maybe if they went there politely and asked why they were making noise so late, no other neighbours seemed bothered and reporters confirmed in their opinion it wasn't very noisy btw

then the conversation may have went a bit like . . .

sorry we are trying to not make too much noise, we already closed the garage but we had a call from a customer who needs to go up north urgently so we are sorting his/her motor.

we should be finished in half an hour

ok then, it's just noisy

sorry we will be quick as we can

think scotty was lucky

pissed up and loud music is one thing, getting in the way of people making a living is another

One oddity is that these ‘neighbours’ turned up in a pick-up so not sure how close they were.

And can we have a photo taken from the workshop pointing the other way?  Maybe not so far from the scot's house?  And possibly some history of late night noise.  This thread seems to paint the business as squeaky clean, good neighbours...

Garage owner's got a kinky pornstar moustache ... a good fit for the half-naked Scotch nipple ring.

Blimey an awful lot of very naive people who automatically believe the Thai's side of the story, obviously they would never ever tell a lie and that they are always good and quiet neighbours <deleted> half a bloody story as usual

Am I the only one who finds it a little suspect about last minute jobs at 20:00 hours requiring loads of staff when supposedly they shut at 18:00, who would like to bet every night there will be a 'last minute' job happening

I reckon most blokes (other than the obviously soft <deleted> ones who wont say boo to a goose even if it was shatting on them!) have felt the rage every now and then when the locals have decided nothing other than their own gratification matters, I know I have.....

Do not need to believe Thai side of the story.

there is no law prohibiting him from working 24 hours per day if he wishes too.

only 1 law applied which is noise.

Law for noise is after 23:00pm or latest midnight . At 20:00 pm shop can make as much noise as they want.

however even assuming noise was way past midnight , there are appropriate ways to address it , one being a polite approach, at least dressed and communicating in a language other party understands , another is to call Pattaya city hall , 24 hours help line and if that failed 1111 government help line.
