am wondering if anyone has recently visited western prisoners, say in Nonthaburi, etc ; and if so any information on how to do so would be appreciated......

this would be not for anyone I know,  but just wondering if one place or embassy might be easiest, I think I've heard place to start is an embassy ?

I used to visit a Farang prisoner in the well known prison in BKK. Did so until the prisoner I was visiting got a King's Pardon. He went back after being released and died six months later.

I did not know him previously. How it came about?....I had a friend that was a nun in a local convent and I asked her if she knew of any prisoners I could visit. She put me in the direction of this man who was from my own country.

When my Ex. used to come visit me here I would bring her along. I can still see his face "light" up at the sight of this beautiful lady. He would bust into "love songs" for her .

  May he RIP.

There is no single more compassionate act than visiting a prisoner. It could be any one of us for just a tiny circumstance. Sentences here are huge and your effort will mean a great deal. Start with your embassy. There used to be a group of prison visitors. Does anyone know if it still exists? Charity begins at home.

I have been visiting a guy in a big prison in BKK for the past few years. You used to just show up, now it's not that easy.

For the past 2 years, i've had to go to the embassy of his country (I got the name of a contact in there). The lady in the embassy would then write me a letter granting me permission to visit on a SPECIFIC DAY (which I requested). I had to then show this letter at the check-in / registration at the prison (building across the road, beside the river).

I would say that since this system was introduced, it's not possible to just visit a prisoner... it takes lots of work. It's a pitty, because i'm sure these foreign inmates are happy to receive visitors (My friend certainly is... we only got to know each other from my random visits in years gone by).

Sorry I can't be of actual help, but hopefully you will find this information useful.
