BANGKOK, 1 October 2018 (NNT) – The Tourist Police Bureau has dispatched a team of officers to facilitate passengers at Don Mueang International Airport, as more Chinese tourist arrivals are expected.

The Deputy Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, Pol. Maj. Gen. Surachet Hakpan, said more police officershave been deployed to the airport to raise the confidence of Chinese tourists visiting Thailand during their National Day holiday.

China's National Day is on October 1st, while the number of visitors from China is expected to see a surge from October 1st to 7th, 2018, as many Chinese people will travel during this period.

The police have integrated its work between the Immigration Police, Vibhavadi Metropolitan Station Office, Don Muang Metropolitan Police Station, the Airports of Thailand (AOT), the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA), and the Department of Tourism, to better serve visitors and take care of their comfort and safety.

Garlands and pamphlets showing the Thai traditions and the “dos and don'ts” travel guideline have been distributed to visitors during this dispatching ceremony, reassuring visitors that the Thai officials will do their best to take care of their safety.

Tourists in Thailand who faced any problems and wish to request assistance can call the 1155 24-hour hotline, or contact any of the 34 tourist police stations located at key tourism attractions across the country.

Never mind the quality, feel the width ...

Actually, the officials are there to tell them to deposit their wallets in a bag and catch the next flight home.

Nothing like a good laugh to start the week. The only care tourist service providers will take is to see how deep they can dig into their pockets and purses and how little value they can provide for the money spent. Water and road safety are not included in ticket prices.

New advice to Immigration officials:

. . . and not to throw that fantastic, world-quality right hook until they have at least shown dissent at being refused entry into our happy land.

And, in an effort, spear-headed by Mr 'Peace' Prayuth, himself, reassurance was grovellingly given to prospective Chinese visitors that:

. . . but it would still be wise to take an advanced level self-defence course before flying, especially countering that wild, right hook that Thai Immigration officers are inclined to throw at your kind.

"We'll look after you in Thailand" Big Joke tells the Chinese..... and other tourists

The Thai police went on a massive charm offensive at Don Mueang airport yesterday as they prepared to welcome Chinese tourists during the "Golden Week" that marks the National Day holidays in China.

Pol Maj-Gen Surachate Hakpal - in his last job as deputy commander of the tourist police before he takes over as immigration chief today - led a contingent of 147 cops and airport staff.

The move comes in the wake of an embarrassing incident for Thailand - the assault of a Chinese tourist at Bangkok's second largest airport by a security guard that was caught on video.

Surachate - known as Big Joke in the media - said all tourists were important, not just the Chinese.

But he had to admit they did represent a large proportion of tourist arrivals these days.

He promised that the Thais would continue to ensure the security of visitors who could count on Thailand.

And in a thinly veiled reference to the assault he said that anyone not doing their job properly would be punished.

Many Chinese are on the move this week in the National Day holidays lasting from October 1st to 7th, reported TNA.

Can't see any sarcasm there, just the fact of how it is.

Given their reported (lack of) spending power, should that be "Golden Weak"?

Jeez . . . just look at the shape of those cops. Only one, out of the four in shot, has a half-decent physique . . . the other 3, not all that surprisingly, have that Thai cop paunch . . . one of them almost competing with the Porky pod. They are a disgrace and so are their 'superiors' who should be laying down the law, regarding his men displaying good self-management and respect for the job they're lucky enough to have.

These policemen sure give the Thai a good reputation...i wonder how far they can run with bellies like that.

Basically, just behave yourselves like decent human beings . . . for a change. And no more fantastic right hooks, providing you stick to the roadmap guideline.

Punished? How? Be forced to bend down and touch their toes . . . once, if they can manage it.

Nah, you've missed the point.

They've been specially selected to stand in the doorway and use their bodies to block any illegal visitors, thereby avoiding thumping them directly.

Guy at the podium was answering a question from a British tourist:

Tourist: "Who ate all the pies?"

Answer: "It was him!" he said, pointing to the guy on his extreme right.

Do's:

Do spend a lot of money

Do tell all your friends to come

Do visit national parks at 10X the normal cost

Do indulge in all sorts of guided tours by Thai guides

Do empty your wallet and max out your credit card

Don'ts:

Don't skimp on restaurant food or eating out

Don't skimp on luxury items to take home

Don't ever question what a Thai say's

Don't ever question safety or security

Don't ever question your bill or taxi fare

Don't over stay your holiday

Interrogated, why? Or do you mean he was asked to fill in a questionnaire?

Being Tourist Police Officers, I sincerely hope they welcome ALL visitors.

What is your favourite colour?

What's the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
