The Computer Crime Act was a product of another junta government in 2007 and unanimously passed by the appointed NLA back then. It has been misused and abused by the military since then.

Yes it has and should be scrapped ASAP but I wonder if the new government will do this or keep it as a tool to silence their opponents.. i think the latter.. that is one of the reasons I don't see politicians as much better.. but I hope to be proven wrong.

Don’t need to scrapped entirely. Just take off the 2017 new amendments that gave more sweeping powers to the junta on freedom of speech and make the Act mote

harmonius with international human rights standards. Some of the act are quite useful and relevant to fake news and religious sentivity.

The reason the corruption index worsened is that its a political tool too. You get negative points if your not a democracy not based on actual facts just on not being a democracy.

You know only new anti corruption laws ever to be made were by the junta (in recent memory).. you just don't want to admit it.

Thaksin is the worst example as he is one of the biggest crooks together with Suthep and a few others. But its a good example of democracy in Thailand, how it is abused.

Yes democracy is the only way forward for new blood, that is its advantage over other forms. However in Thailand this is not happening and the same old crooks get in power time after time. Democracy is better.. but far from perfect and in some cases like in Thailand it just does not produce the right results. Thai democracy is actually an example of how not too.

Now because of the junta and its new way of voting new parties emerge.. and that is a good thing. I dd not see this happening before but now it is. Would be something if those new laws ultimately mean new honest blood in politics. The irony of that.

Anyway I agree with you that democracy is better then the junta.. only in Thailand its just marginally better. Maybe in a few decades we will see change.

Oh really ?

If Thaksin was the biggest crook, why the lowest level of corruption index (Transparency International) was under his government ?

Who said he was the biggest crook ? The 2006 putchists who took down the 1997 people Constitution said so.

And during the first junta government corruption worsened a lot compared to the Thaksin govt.

Nevertheless you blindly trust their words.

I see brainwashing work very well here, not only to Thais but to certain naive farangs as well....

The reason why "democratic" governments were unable to pass some reforms it's because they were ousted by military coups whenever they attempted to do so.

Before Thaksin, there was the example of Chatichai  govt. (Thailand experienced growth as high as 13% with his government), yet the army took him down citing "Chatichai was corrupt",. after the coup in 1991, corruption worsened like crazy and the growth collapsed. People protested and they were massacred by the army. Some story after the 2006 and so on...

You seem to not have an idea of the history of Thailand and only follow the brainwashing elitist "truth". (which is indeed a bunch of lies) . It' sad when people never learn from the past....

It's likely to be worse than a problem with quality MP's judging by the way the deck has been set in preparation for the deal. Voters better educate themselves and turnout in droves.
