From anti-rice pledging scheme crusader to Democrat leadership challenger

Few people believe Warong Dechgitvigrom could dethrone Abhisit Vejjajiva in the Democrat Party’s leadership battle, but flying under the radar to hit the target seems to be what the former is all about.

Even nowadays, the general public are still asking “Warong who?”  It does not matter that he was one of the Democrat Party’s most potent weapons during the last censure debate, lashing out ferociously at the Yingluck government’s rice pledging scheme which he said was plagued with corruption.

After the government wobbled amid street protests and then was taken out by the 2014 coup, allegations in the rice programme continued to haunt Yingluck Shinawatra and her senior officials. She and a few were found guilty of either downright corruption or malfeasance in court verdicts issued under a military rule. Even so, the name “Warong” escaped much attention.

Wonder if it would help the cause if Thai mainstream media sources might extend similar coverage and attention towards the real opposing political makings?

Do the Junta circles really look upon the Democrats, and their leadership, as a vying opposition?

If I'm not mistaken, Marky [and the Democrats as an institution] has always appeared to be in the shadows of the Thai establishment.

Rarely, a peep of critique or challenging from him or Warong of the last four plus years.

We needn't remind those who recall 2010 and the massacre and political riots instigated by the Democrats that led the eventual military crack-down.....again - usurping all that was Shinawatra.

Maybe you need to brush up on your history just a tad? Though most history books are banned  in Thailand, start at 2010 and then move backwards from there.

He wasn’t lashing out because the rice pledging scheme was riddled with corruption!
As usually in this country he was lashing out because he wasn’t in the position at the time to get his share from the scheme which he would have gladly taken if it would have been the idea of the “Democrats”.

The usual redshirt propaganda. The political riots were instigated by Taksin and the red shirts. You don't know much about Thai history
