I'm hoping that the BMA has a number of professional managers, planners, engineers, project managers, but nobody made any plans to have the keys ready and available.

Further surely there should be several sets of keys to critical equipment, to ensure a set can be on site from one of several access points/personnel very quickly.

But surely these are not old style metal keys, there are so many newer starting systems which could be activated automatically by the water height (as mentioned) or activated by various signal systems with signal based passwords etc., by many personnel.

Beyond belief.

And here it is......................

  • They do start automatically: When the water reaches critical level, a member of staff is automatically sent off to find the key to start the pump. Is there some other kind of automatic?

  • Keys to turn on water-pumps?, what a bulsh...! Those kind of pumps have to start automatic when the water in the "water-bank"  reach a certain level, nobody has to start anything or otherwise what kin

Just reading in the Bangkok business section.

Making matters worse for Bangkok, the city is sinking at a rate of more than one centimeter a year and could be below sea level by 2030.

I know the feeling, sinking 1cm a year. ????

They have been running a nuclear power plant on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, near Chatujak, Bangkok since 1962 without incident.

What the hell, any chance of a bit of what you're smoking?

It isn't a power plant it's a research reactor. It's also been closed down at least twice.

It has an output of 1.2 MW

Just to put that into perspective:

The smallest reactor in the USA is over 580 MW

The largest is nearly 14,000 MW

Yes.. the response from ministers.. to blame someone else !!!!

Half assed as usual.

This could happen to everyone. Who could not remember having lost a key once in life? ????

with slot for key to be turned on?

or no slot - permanently turned on?

Permanently "Switched" on, with a slot for something other than a key..

A case of admitting your incompetence rather then being found to be both a liar and incompetent.

Neither inspires confidence in our elected leadership.

I can't believe in a city of 10 million people someone lost the keys. Could anyone imagine this happening in New York or London. ???

Would you SACK that face ?

Only in Thailand would the politicians forward such a wane joke as "key misplaced". Hey, that's OK, I enjoy the humor but I doubt the Thai citizenry do.

Definitely a case for BJ, rush !

Do Thais believe anything these guys say?

Or is it just falangs who can smell a porky a kilometer away?

It would be impossible to write a script about the happenings in this Country ????

Any of these statements on Thailand should be Titled "Believe it or Not. "Surprisingly with this government , the army and the police force they are true.

"Who is at fault"?

Who knows but what is sure there is never any accountability or responsibility by those "in charge"!

Well, Well, Well Who would ever believe the audacity to publish this was caused because The Officials could not get the keys. Faulty Towers could not beat this effort, Emmanuel you are no longer alone. As most Farangs would say " things like this could only happen in Thailand". Surely someone in power had access to the keys .Is there no  responsibility that go with government jobs.

Not only Thailand. On my first day of work in Bogota 1973 the tallest building, the Avianca building, burned up bottom to top. They had a sprinkler system, but didn't have the key there either.

Just sack him but we know it will never happen in this country!

I take it you are not on the "Square"?

No but I'm on the "level".

I'd say, the governor is an Aswin....

as the saying goes:
I'd be laughing if it were not so sad.

Maybe Rainy season started unexpectedly. .. ...

The stupidity level of people who are on high ranking positions in this country is worrisome

“Aswin said the construction contractor had not handed over the well to the city so officials had no key to turn on the pumps.

"This kind of problem shouldn't happen and this is the city's fault," he said during his Tuesday inspection of a water drainage system at Soi Vibhavadi-Rangsit 44.”

lol... one would hope construction companies don’t hand over keys until the job is finished, including commissioning etc.

but being mindful of the fact that...TIT... I prefer others to go first ????

Now he is backtracking? Trying to 'save face'? The usual, let's blame someone else?

You can tell when "people" are on the level, the sh$te runs evenly out of both corners of the mouth! ????

That is why I just love this place, you can't make this stuff up or can you?

You wake up and go to sleep each night knowing you are going to get a good laugh each day when you wake up. This is like a good reality show?

  • 3 weeks later...

Nation of idiots.
