The amazing think is, people actually do stuff like this (OK, maybe not so extreme).

 

I once visited a (rented) house in the UK where every fuse in the board had been replaced by something rather fatter than fuse wire (estimated rating 100A or so) and all the plug fuses were wrapped in foil "to stop them blowing", some of the wrapped fuses were actually intact so the foil was pre-empting failure. The whole place was "protected" by the 80a supply fuse!!
