A Bangkok man complained on Facebook post that he had been intimidated by a Grab Bike taxi rider after he refused to cancel the ride he had hailed.

After his post was widely shared, Isares Kamonnawin said Grab Thailand called him to issue an apology and was offered Bt70 of discount codes for five uses. He was also asked to remove the post.

Isares posted on his wall at 9.16 pm on Thursday that he used the Grab Bike app to hail a ride but the rider who accepted the call sent him a chat message, asking him to cancel his request on the grounds that the traffic was congested and it would not be worth his while coming to pick him.

Isares said after he refused to cancel the request and told the rider to make the cancellation on his own, the rider sent a message that he wanted to kick him in the face.

By Monday morning, the post had received more than 5,000 reactions and 1,200-plus comments and had been shared over 3,100 times.

Israres said Grab Thailand asked him to remove the post but other Facebook users told him keep it up as a lesson for other app users.

Isares said an official from Grab Thailand called him to say that the rider had been punished and would be eliminated from the service.

Along with the apology, Isares was given a discount code worth Bt70 for five uses.

Fishy .... the chap moaning on FB,  must be an official taxi rival ... whatever, GRAB will always be prefered,  rather then the official taxi or bike cheats.

I don't believe him, he is a friend of win mafia and want grab to look bad,  but as same you order food in a restaurant and food come, do you think you can cancel the order, no way and surely the restaurant don't give you a free meal next time but will as you to pay

Grab is definitely much better than the crap taxis here.

That being said, the drivers do have a bad habit of asking the users to cancel so they don't get penalized by cancelling themselves.

Why do they want people to cancel in the first place?

They have a certain limit of cancellations and then after that, they get punished or lose bonuses or something. Which is why, they want the end user to cancel. Which is BS.

Not everything is a conspiracy. It's pretty common for these Grab drivers asking others to cancel when they're the ones who want to. They get penalized if they cancel too many times and want the user to do so. This happens a lot here especially during peak hour when the traffic is crap. Never had one threaten me though.

I miss Uber.
