webfact Posted October 30, 2018 Share Posted October 30, 2018 Filipina pedestrian dead in Pattaya road carnage A woman from the Philippines died and several vehicles were damaged after an accident at Thepprasit 9, Pattaya on Monday. A Toyota driven by 37 year old Ekapong Phiboonrat hit Maria Rosario. S. Paloma who died from her injuries. Three other cars and a motorcycle were damaged. Witnesses said that the Filipina was crossing the road with three friends who stopped when they heard the horn of the speeding car. She did not. Popular Post toenail Posted October 30, 2018 Popular Post Share Posted October 30, 2018 Unfortunately, I must admit many Thai drivers are more careful with dogs walking/ sleeping on the streets than they are with pedestrians. -Most Thai drivers do not slow down when people are walking on the side of a soi ( no sidewalks folks- have no choice). Roads are for cars, not pedestrians. That said in Western countries pedestrians have the right of way once they step onto the road. One of the reasons why western tourists don't pay nearly the attention they should when crossing the roads here in Thailand. Not sure what the law is here in Thailand or her Philippine home country. I guess they are late in doing their bussinesses, but they should understand that safety is a priority, business can wait or they should just get better at time management. Happens here all the time. There is a reason for this country having the most deadly roads in the world . In other places he would go to jail. here max. 500.000 Baht.
