Beer on tap cannot be sold at 7/11s from today Picture: Sanook It is now officially illegal for draught beer to be sold at convenience stores. In a widely expected move following earlier complaints and moves by the authorities the Government Gazette published yesterday said that dispensing of beer via machines at convenience stores is prohibited. There were fears over the availability of alcohol to children and young people as well as the perceived threats to society, families and the economy, reported Sanook. I would believe CP to have more power than those families though... Already has a close to 100% monopoly on beers, cigarettes, ready to eat frozen food and the rest.. Made the count myself few months ago and realized that over 50% of my casual spending's went to 7/11 (beer, fags, water, shampoo, soap and such) and most of the rest to Supermarkets for real food, so I am forcing myself to find some mom & pop stores to buy the beers now.. It would've been a great idea, but unfortunatley it can't. Hops, malts, yeast and water aren't the culprits, they are readily available in Thailand, but the sizes of the breweries being limited to micropubs or producing in Laos will drive up the price.
