dennis123
Hypothetically spoken ???? Let's say I move with my Thai registered car to Laos or Cambodia and decide to stay there for a year. In Laos you are only allowed to take your car for 14 days, while in Cambodia I believe it's one month. Overstay for the car is 1000 baht/day with a maximum fine of 10,000 baht. HOWEVER, what if the Laos or Cambodian authorities stop me (Thai registered cars are definitely a favorite for them), I could make up a story that I forgot my temporarily export document from customs at my hotel, and by paying a small bribe I'm pretty sure I'll get away with that. But what if I arrive at the border (at Koh Kong they demand you leave your blue car registration book at the border [cambodian side] so they will definitely notice that you've been away for much longer than a month), in Laos they don't make an issue about this but there they use the purple car passport. No one would make an issue about a week or two overstay for the car, but a full year, any idea about the consequences I could face?
