Acosta got of lightly having his pass revoked, placing his hand on that girls arm was tantamount to assault, lock him up and throw away the key, and put that racist Lemon in the cell with him.

"...Defiant Trump blames media, fellow Republicans for House losses..."   Anyone and everyone but himself.   What a surprise...

  • How could anything be Trump's fault, he is after all a stable genius. He is like, very smart.

  • I guess you didn't watch the press conference. The reality TV president rambled on, threw tantrums, blamed everyone but himself, tried to bully a reporter and basically was incoherent. Man-child would

Apparently he didn't even lose... he gained in the Senate... and also loss of only 26 seats in the House is much much less than what anybody was expecting under the circumstances... This was probably actually a win. So it appears that Trump is actually more popular than he was during his campaign in 2016.

Only 26 seats? That seems low. If that is true it is lower than the average loss of seats (28) to the opposition party of a sitting president in a mid-term election. I had read 32-35 based on the outcome of tight races. Even that's not too good, considering, well, Trump.

Exactly what I was trying to say... he lost lower than average than in any previous such elections where every president is expected to lose some seats to opposing party.

Keep in mind those seats that were lost were in heavily jerrymanderd districts it’s much harder to win there

"You are a rude, terrible person," Trump told Acosta.

Acosta should have realised that Trump thought he was on the Apprentice again and was about to fire him, he missed a play here, he should have replied: "That's rich coming from a despicable creature like you!"

Definitely "the pot calling the kettle black".

Maybe the highly respected Acosta should have just said "right back at yah" (street language that Trump is sure to understand).

Well the polls predicted that they'd lose the Senate also.

You need to stop watching the “fake” Fox News network, or at least broaden your reading and viewing platforms

Axios has the number of Red house seats switched to Blue as 31. There are about 6 to 9 more house seats that are still being counted where there is a fair chance they will switch from Red to Blue. It might take a couple of weeks to know the exact number.

The other big news that isn't getting much press coverage is the 7 governor seats switched from Red to Blue. This is a big deal for Democrats at the state and local levels.

Having listened to both Beto and Ted.... I think Texas did both itself and the nation a disservice in re-electing Ted.

What polls were you reading? The senate was a toss-up from the get-go.

Why don't you ask the same question of fox news?

CNN is garbage.

I'm just curious how this drama develops... to what extent Democrats will try to challenge him before the next elections - they may try to compromise him if they are serious about all this build up and vendetta they have against him which is very unique... things could get messy and would be interesting to see how this affects the current stand-off of everybody vs everybody in the world.  Just making a constatation that he didn't lose any of his support base... so the whole smear campaign didn't really work...

That's a good start, but so many governorships and state houses were lost in the Obama years the Democrats are coming from a lonnnng way back. Personally, in states with bi-cameral legislatures I prefer mixed control of legislative bodies.

The guy really is not the full ticket, is he?

I thought he was a despicable man in business, prior to running for the Top 'Mercan Job, but since he has become President, he is the most shallow, lack of morals, stupid, immature, embarrassment of a leader the Western world has ever seen.

In a sense as a measure of his performance and popularity - the results show he's more popular now. But then he lost majority in the House - he was expected to lose that anyway by a much wider margin... so it's not a loss under the circumstances.  Add to that he was also expected to lose in the Senate... but he in fact gained there... simply logic imo.

Wrong. GOP and 45 suffered another huge popular vote loss and without gerrymandering, voter suppression and purges would be in a world of hurt.

Details and subtext are important.

The depth and breadth of the loss will show in January. Trump is already showing his true colours of how it feels to be boxed into a corner with hungry, vicious dogs nipping at his precious manhood. The best is yet to come.

Unfortunately I think what we are gonna see is not “the best” but very much the worst of 45s instincts.

Yep, and we're still stuck with him and as is already in evidence he is about to get MUCH WORSE.

A pity you don't know the difference between a smear campaign and reporting.

Of course his support base won't change, what could change are those people who hoped Trump would bring about something else, something good, and should have realised by now it is only going down faster and faster with Trump at the helm.

The incumbent party typically has a huge advantage when the economy is doing well.  And the economy had been doing well, robust growth, low unemployment, climbing stock market, increasing wages, etc.  Yet, in this strong economic environment, the Republicans still managed to lose control of the House.  How could that have happened?  His name is Trump.

The 1930 (smoot-Hawley) tariff act comes to mind... although that was more like catching the plague, than a common cold.

The Senate isn't a referendum, if was never designed to be that unlike house, where the members represent the popular vote, give or take, we can always argue about gerrymandering,

The framers wanted to ensure that there was a balance between large and small States, and the large ones couldn't overwhelm the smaller ones.

Hence I live in South Dakota, solidly Red, with a population of 800,00 and 2 senators. California, solidly Blue, population 40M and 2 senators.

An interesting side note. When the Dakota territory was admitted to the Union, the Republicans of the day insisted that even with it's tiny population it be split in into two States, North & South, because they knew it would give them an additional 4 rather than 2 Senate seats.

Politics has always been a dirty game!
