56 arrested, 80 illegally modified motorcycles seized in Bangkok

By The Nation

Bangkok police seized 80 motorcycles that had been modified for apparent road racing and arrested 56 motorcyclists on Saturday.

Acting traffic police chief Pol Col Nithithorn Jintakanon held a press conference at 2 am to announce the result of the operation to check motorcyclists on roads under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Police Division 1 that was held on Friday through to the early hours of Saturday.

He said 17 of the arrested were under 18 years old.

Police also checked 18 motorcycle repair shop and seized 13 illegal spare parts.

Nithithorn said during the operation, police also checked 101 big-bike motorcycles and found that 63 of them emitted noise louder than the legal limit of 95dB so they were suspended from use for a month.

Yep, crush all the bikes and give scooter boy the choice of 100 hours of community service sweeping the streets of Bangkok or a week in jail.

Maybe they got busted in the first place because suspiciously,  they were all wearing helmets !!!!

Confiscate the bikes and auction them off. Use the proceeds to fund the ambulance service.

When will they finally stop this ? Bothering the racers !

Rather chase the whingers on their scooters after their 5th Leo.

Have you guys seen the sand dumptrucks with modified exhausts? They installed mufflers with a diameter of 30 cm wide...and not only 1 but a whole row of them to drive in BKK.

Yeah, that will show 'em! After 30 days, the illegal noise can continue... ????

How many times do we hear of similar police operations and subsequent seizures of vehicles, but it seems to change nothing. Idiots are still driving around and racing on their modified vehicles causing danger and creating a general nuisance for others in ever increasing numbers.

Clearly this strategy what ever it may be is failing, but yet again nobody seems to learn from that.

That's because they have knee-jerk operations every blue moon, but in-between give a rat's ass...

80/56/17/18/13/101/63

they just love their numbers
