I just read news about changes running from Nov 15 to Jan 15, 2019.

- double entry visa for those who apply for single

- if you already have a visa you can travel to neighbor countries without the need to get a new one

- if you work/live in neighbor countries you can travel in and out without limitations

Very positive news, showing they really feel the effects of tourism slowing down.

I said it many times - to be welcomed in Thailand again the next slow-down or economic crisis has to come. Why would they care when all is going well.

Source?

There was some talk that the government might bring in double entries for VOA arrivals, specifically Chinese where once they got a VOA the first time it would be valid for a second trip but nothing more was said.

I found a news article about that in a source of the news I cannot use due to forum rules.

Not sure how it can be put into effect by the 15th since it was just approved by the cabinet yesterday.

It mentions something re-entry permit which made it ever mor confusing.

It seems very short on details and there is nothing about ti on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Website.

Here a source from Thai TV, obviously in Thai, but an english source doesn't seem to be available yet:

How i understand the three points which are also shown on the video preview picture, i might be wrong, feel free to correct me:

1. You now get a double entry tourist visa valid for 6 months (probably they mean instead of single entry)

2. If you are a tourist and went to a country neighbouring Thailand and come back to Thailand you can use your old visa as if you have a re entry permit (If you have for example a double tourist visa they ask if you want to use this visa or use your old permit of stay? Or a different system? Let's see)

3. Tourists who can enter Thailand without a visa (visa exempt?) will now no longer have their entries counted (or something similar). I assume it means there is no 2 visa exempts at land borders rule for the next 2 months
