rooster59
EC assures diplomats general election will take place as scheduled Na-ark Rojanasuvan BANGKOK, 16 November 2018, (NNT) - Both the Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Election Commission (EC) have assured that all necessary tasks to hold the general election will take place on schedule with the EC chief giving assurances to the diplomats of 50 countries. EC Chairman Ittiporn Boonprakong has held a meeting with over 50 ambassadors posted to Thailand to introduce EC members and outline the processes to be used to select Senators and Members of Parliament. The diplomats were promised that they would be provided with constant and accurate updates on the organizing of the election and given a rundown of the EC’s authority and responsibilities before being assured that a general election will take place next year as planned. The ambassadors are to be gathered once again after the Member of Parliament Election Act takes effect either in December or January. Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan and Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Kreau-ngam have also given assurance that the general election will take place in accordance with the government’s roadmap on February 24, 2019. They pointed out the EC still has time to divided voting zones and political parties will be able to carry out primary votes. Deputy Secretary-General of the EC Nath Laoseesawakool remarked in a speech given a seminar to prepare electoral auditors that all authorities handling the election must be up to date on electoral fraud techniques. He pressed them to follow up on political networks and lobbyists and to stay informed of party policies. On the Senator selection process, the EC has returned selection privileges to three organizations after vetting their qualifications. They are the Chemical Industry Labor Union of Thailand, Siam GS Battery Labor Union and the Maha Chula Manee Chedi Sri Suvarnabhumi Foundation. A total 439 organizations have been allowed to propose Senators with three cooperatives recently losing their privilege after being determined to be for profit. -- nnt 2018-11-

Popular Post darksidedog
Calm down Gentlemen. I think what the otherwise as you say, lying git, was really saying is that they have had plenty of time to put the fix in on operations and the election, which will of course be totally rigged, will go ahead, now that they are positive of winning.

Popular Post Eric Loh
The constituency boundary map is still in a limbo and not finalized. Still have to be sent for royal approval and gazette. Yet these clowns have the audacity to ‘assure’ the election date. Dumb or just liars. 1

Chang_paarp
How can the election take place as scheduled when they have not declared a date for it to take place? It is the job of the EC to declare the date of the election and, according to Mr Rollex, they have not declared a date for the big event.
Eligius
The Coronation date has not been announced yet - and presumably that would need to be announced several months in advance, so that foreign dignitaries can make room for it in their diaries as invited guests at the event. The junta have said that they will not hold the 'election' before the Coronation - so that already tells us a lot about the likelihood (sorry: certainty) of a further delay in February. Plus: the junta have repeatedly spoken of the 'election' time-frame as falling between February and May. Why do they mention such a time span - if they don't intend to drag things out at least until May?! Edited November 18, 2018 by Eligius

Not to be pedantic, but doesn't the coronation ceremony have to be officially completed and "legal", firstly, before any of these political activities can be blessed and approved? Per traditional Thai law..... Just asking.
