BANGKOK — The kingdom’s leading election observers on Sunday criticized the junta leader’s order allowing the Election Commission to revise constituency boundaries.

The People Network for Election in Thailand, or P-NET, said in a statement that the move could lead to the redrawing of boundaries that risk favoring pro-military government parties and lead to unfair elections.

I have no problem believing this corrupt soldier is not above trying to gerrymander his way into an extension of power, but foreign governments aren't stupid and he's Thai so he will seriously believe he can pull the wool over the eyes of stupid foreigners.

The problem isn't 'can he do it?' but 'can he do it such that nobody notices or predicts his deceit?'. After all, he's already had one NGO in Thailand tumble to what he's doing...

If he isn't very careful and very shrewd, his manipulations will be obvious, and yet more foreign diplomats will shun his ass. No more piccies of his holiness with foreign diplomats smiling through gritted teeth because they have nothing but scorn for the man and distaste for a treasonous soldier.

In the end.....does it really matter?

Winners, losers, etc.

Life goes on without the aid of highly contrived political convention.

Just don't go near the light, you'll be right.

Everything is being done to make the upcoming elections go the way the junta wants. Expect more stuff shortly.

Doesn't matter.

People have been waiting nearly 5 years to stick to Prayuth and co.

Gerrymander or not, Thaksin is gonna smash 'em at the ballot box.

If he is allowed to stand, and that is exactly what I was referring too. If he or his party can't run, people cannot vote for them.
