Thai Pilots Plan Legal Action Against Labour Ministry Over Foreign Pilot Permits
Protectionism can be a pretty pathetic thing, and we're seeing it both here and in America right now. It usually does not benefit the economy and oftentimes it has a very adverse effect. The Thai economy would be so much more dynamic if it was open to market forces, import taxes were lower dramatically, wine taxes were lowered, and luxury taxes were dropped down to 20%. But since the country is still being run by dinosaurs that is not going to happen an our lifetime, unless the dream takes place and the youth take over. -

No more visa run to Laos in 1-day...any input.
One of my resort guests drove to Laos today to extend his visa (US passport) in 1-day, as he had completed his 60-day and 30-day extension, and was planning on staying 19 more days. He was told he would have to spend 3 nights in Laos to then get a visa back to Thailand. This was the sign that is up. Is this a new thing? How are the Chiang Mai visa agents handling this? He tried some "encouragement", but the immigration were adamant. Be interested if anyone else has similar issue...or has this been an issue for a while and I am not up to date?
