British Embassy Appointments

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have been trying to get an appointment at the British Embassy to get the Affirmation to marry document using their website, but I can’t get an appointment for January/February as it’s fully booked up for as long as I can see.

I have tried using a computer and my phone on various browsers but can’t get an appointment.

Is the website malfunctioning?

Any help would be much appreciated.

This site?

https://www.consular-appointments.service.gov.uk/fco/#!/british-embassy-bangkok/oaths-affirmations-and-affidavits-/slot_picker

Obviously trash.

Nothing available during 2019.

Are you aware what the "BETA" in the title of the site means :whistling:

Time to give feedback

Yes it’s this site. Tried to arrange an appointment but there’s no availability.

It appears that there is a problem in the interview system database. I suggest you phone the consular section in the morning, explain the situation, and ask if you can request an appointment visa email (ask the name of the person you should address the email to).

Thank you Tim. I have emailed the consular service, and am hoping I’ll actually receive a reply. If that fails then it looks like I’ll have to have a very expensive phone call to them.

In 2018, even if you are outside Thailand, there is no reason why a call to Bangkok needs to cost very much. From most locations, you ought to be able to find a way to call for less than 10 US cents a minute.

I appears only the the  "Oaths affirmations and affidavits" has no appointment available. I tried the one for certified copies and it had appointment available. Did you send your email to this address [email protected] .

You could also try making an appointment using the timetable for certified copies, and put a note in the booking that you actually need a marriage affirmation but that you can't do this via that appointment link, as it's showing no slots free for the whole of 2019.

The Consular people do look at these booking requests: I made one a few weeks back for a Declaration, without specifying exactly what declaration I required, and within a couple of days received an email from them asking for more details as to what declaration I wanted to make.

Just tried the site mentioned in post #2 again:

spinning wheel, "Loading" since minutes.

This link if clicked from the embassy website works.

https://www.consular-appointments.service.gov.uk/fco/#!/british-embassy-bangkok/oaths-affirmations-and-affidavits-/slot_picker

Edit: It was spinning when I tried the link. Now to see if this works. Book an appointment for an oath, affirmation or affidavit in Bangkok

Edit: It worked

Well done Ubon. I had the same trouble 2 months ago. I kept clicking on each day which was not available but eventually white boxes appeared. I have just tested the above site and Vacancies appear. Now married happily ever after, I hope ha ha

Dave, I have recently married in BKK after starting the procedures at The British Embassy. If you are divorced make sure you produce the ORIGINAL document. The first visit I thought mine was original. Got turned away applied for a certified copy from Uk cost me £215.

Also when completing the questionnaire make sure it is 1 million % perfect following the example they show you. I made a few errors including in the word Mother's, I neglected to type the apostrophe. My Budha how fussy is that? The second attempt I managed to jump the hurdle safely. Good Luck

Thank you BKK, I’ll try arranging an appointment through the certified copies department.

Thank you Bond. I will take that into account. I’ll make sure it is spot on.

I have checked appointments for  both affirmations and certified copies. I’ll check every day for the next few weeks, and hopefully an appointment day will open on the day that I need.

Has anyone tried just showing up at the embassy to arrange an appointment?

FYI.... The Embassy appointment system diary only ever shows 2 months ahead.

Regarding 'turning up at the door'... Sorry but no chance.... The receptionist in the 'fortified pill box' at the entrance has a list of people who have made appointments and will not allow you to enter if your name is not on the list and even if your name is on the list and you arrive more than 30 minutes before your allocated time you will have to wait outside.

What was it TM recently said.... something to the tune that the Government are here to help you!

Good luck.

Same as you missed the apostrophe out of your 'handle' name.

Looks like I’ll have to stalk the website over the next few weeks or give them a call.

Yes it’s this site. Tried to arrange an appointment but there’s no availability.

It is quite often the case that they will release dates on Mondays or Tuesday closer to the time you are requiring. February could be too far ahead.

Thank you Worrab, I’ll continue to check the availability over the coming weeks. Fingers crossed.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thank you everyone for your help. I have managed to get an appointment for the date that I wanted.

Strange thing is that they released the week’s Thursday appointments first and didn’t release the Monday and Tuesdays appointments until I emailed them about it.
