Don't see anything wrong with it at all.

You see Thai kids doing it all the time in Europe. Not the free hotel part but staying at Thai temples. In return for a small donation or doing some chores, they will spend a couple of nights at a temple before moving on.

Did that years ago with the Mrs. The monks were very accommodating and even called ahead to the next temple to ask if they could accommodate us.

Totally agree - what hipocrisy, if he gets a free room so what? Unbelievable this. Is it anyone's but the Hotel owner's / Manager's business?

Threatening a guest house or hotel with a bad review to get a cheap or free room is just blackmail.

Even if this guy had a million "followers" (sheep) there is no guarantee he tells the truth.

Staying at the Temples is okay as long as he did donate and do some chores respectfully.
