BANGKOK, 23rd November 2018 (NNT) – The Election Commission (EC) has held a meeting with political parties to ensure their understanding of regulations and readiness for the general election, noting that constituency divisions should be complete by December 11. The parties acknowledged support for both the National Development Road Map and moving out the vote.

At Centra Hotel by Centara on Chaeng Wattana road, EC Chairman Ittiporn Boonprakongchaired a meeting to explain election regulations to 67 political parties. The meeting included a demonstration of how the election of Members of Parliament (MP) will be conducted, starting from how to hold a primary election.

Questions posed by the parties included queries about the setting up of off-shoot parties, the 90 days of establishment requirement to run in elections, and constituency divisions.

Ittiporn let on that 89 parties have registered with the EC so far, remarking that the number reflects public interest in politics. He assured the party representatives that the commission is working with fairness, honesty and in accordance with legal requirements, reiterating the division of constituencies is being carefully done to ensure that all zones have an equal number of voters.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Kreau-ngam voiced his opinion that despite complaints that the EC has been slow to conclude election zones, he believes that if the commission were to have rushed the process, it would still be hearing complaints of unfairness and possibly even be facing civil suits.

Time will tell

Oh good....an indoctrination event. Wonder if they have allocated the votes at this meeting and established who gets the biggest rewards for laying down.
