SINGAPORE: Scoot passengers in Bangkok who were due to depart for Singapore on Monday (Nov 26) were hit with a 29-hour delay after their aircraft encountered technical difficulties.

Flight TR869 was due to depart Don Mueang Airport International Airport at 4.25pm on Monday, but was rescheduled to 10.10pm the next day.

In response to a query from Channel NewsAsia, Scoot said the plane was scheduled to depart Tokyo for Singapore via Bangkok on Monday when it encountered technical difficulties.

Quote: "encountered technical difficulties" - perhaps a loud "noking" sound!

Typical "customer service" for low cost carrier (reminds me of multiple similar Eurowings stories).

Just let them sit and wait.

So many alternate flights to Singapore.

For a short while I considered to use Scoot's nonstop Singapore - Berlin.

But no! (schedule is terrible too)

Better being delayed for 29 hours on the ground with a techincal issue, than at 30,000 feet and risking being permanently delayed lol

Customers don't have to suffer these sort of delays but have to think on their feet and also hassle the airline for alternatives.  If they don't react then get your credit card out and sort it yourself and fallback on travel insurance if necessary.  More than one way to skin a cat.

I'm glad I stopped using DM airport (sick of the immigration queues) as I was flying Scoot BKK-SIN on Monday!

But if somebody told me my flight was delayed by more than 3-4 hours, I'd have just booked another flight (Though I did try to do this once in Singapore & the airline told me that I wouldn't be able to exit Singapore twice in one day - Possibly blagging me but I ended up just sitting the 4 hours out in the bar).

Is this really news? Technical delays happens every week. Not uncommon with 24 hr delays.

Depends how you view it, I've had a 24 hour delay on a 17 hour trip (Missed SG F1 Final day & have never flown with Emirates again, told them to shove the 250,000 air miles or so I had up their backside) but to be delayed 24 hours on a 2 hour trip would p155 me off major.

I could get a taxi back to Singapore & get back quicker...

How true, but It surprises me that they couldn't get another aircraft from Singapore to come and pick up the passengers in much less than 29 hours.

Scoot is partly owned by Singapore airline, and Singapore is the hub for SQ, Silk and Scoot. Surely they could (just an example) dispatch an aircraft from Changi or perhaps KL within 2 hours, 2 hours to fly to Bkk and then loading so on board within 5 hours of the original departure time. Question for the fly boys, is that possible?

Five hours very different to 29 hours.

Indeed, or just better to book a real airline. ????
