Thailand Slashes Airfare Prices by 30% for New Year Holiday Travelers
File photo for reference only The Thai Ministry of Transport has announced a special New Year treat for travelers by collaborating with airlines to tackle the issue of costly flight tickets. Just in time for the holiday season, they are offering a 30% discount on 50,000 seats from December 26 to January 5. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Suriya Jungrungreangkit, shared on November 27 that a crucial meeting was held with the Thai Airline Association, which includes Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, Thai VietJet, and Thai Airways. This was to devise a plan to make flights more affordable during peak festive times. The special discounted rates apply to return flights between Bangkok and several popular destinations such as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi, Hat Yai, Koh Samui, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Khon Kaen, and Nan. To take advantage of this offer, travelers need to book directly with the airlines between December 5 and December 7. This initiative is set to make traveling home for the holidays more accessible, affordable, and safe. Suriya expressed confidence in these efforts, anticipating that they will significantly ease travel for many people heading home for the New Year celebrations in 2025. In addition, the Department of Airports and Airports of Thailand (AOT) are preparing to extend service hours and improve airport facilities, including luggage handling, in airports such as Ubon Ratchathani, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, and others. Meanwhile, Aeronautical Radio of Thailand is enhancing operations across aviation facilities. The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand will also monitor the situation to ensure fare remains fair and consistent for passengers throughout the holiday period. -- 2024-11-28 -
