A death sentence for some
I agree, but it's all designed to enrich certain people at the expense of everyone else. It's so much easier to steal money when it's called "aid". Once it's out of the country it's easy to confuse the money trail. -

Yes - and I also suspect thou if one could show they had the money BEFORE -1-Jan-2024 then there is no issue (per por-161/12). Further i suspect after -Jan-2024, if they can show how much their savings grew in years when they were not a Thai resident, and then add that (post 1-Jan-2024 non-resident savings accumulation) to their record of pre-1-Jan-2024 savings, there would be no issue. I think it becoming more and more clear that having financial records handy, in case of an audit, could be essential. ...and Royal Decrees (DTA / LTR visa) possibly complicate the answer further with additional categories/exemptions. -

Clearly something is wrong with this otherwise I'd recommend US abandon all traffic enforcement and speed limits then make drunk driving legal outside of specified checkpoints. That would reduce traffic deaths by 46% then? The answer is probably due to the amount of distance driven or maybe the overall lower speed and defensive driving in Thailand. In US you can simply drive and expect people to follow the law but try that in Thailand and you will have an accident within minutes. -

Western Food - when only this will do !
I couldn't live without English muffins, pork pies, English breakfast sausages, hp sauce and marmite! First three from Greens in CM, 2nd two from food variety on Lazada. Add to those lots of bacon and eggs, toasted cheese and that's most of my food at home. Then for foreign food, German buffet breakfasts (Auf Der au), Indian meals (Rajdarbar Indian) and tacos (la Casita) and a few zinger burgers (KFC). That's about it The only Thai food is yellow chicken and potato curry, and nam prik ong (same as mexican chilli without the kidney beans) cooked by my wife and I'm done. -

Not ASAP, only after he has served his sentence. Or, deport him but only if he will be put in prison wherever he is deported to. No way should he be walking around free right now.
