libya 115
SOURCE: Pattaya People: February 19th 2007 Two Bag Snatchers Apprehended. On the 16th of February a Thai woman was riding home on Soi Thepprasit 8, when she was approached by two Thai men on a motorbike and the passenger attempted to grab her bag. However, the bag was sandwiched between her arm and body so the offender could not take it. She screamed for help, causing the offenders to panic and they fled the scene. The woman memorized the license plate of these cowards’ motorbike. Fifteen minutes later Police were informed that another attempted bag snatching had taken place in front of the Garn Keha Condo but luckily again the cowards fled empty handed and the victims identified the same license plate number. The next day on the 17th of February at 12.25 am Police were informed by Police Volunteers that the motorbike which had been used in the two earlier crimes had been spotted on Soi Thepprasit 8 heading towards Thepprasit Road with seven to eight other motorbike gang members. Police setup a road block and eventually apprehended their motorbike. The two were identified as Bancha Rodpai and Kitti Barasan, both aged 18. They claimed that on the 16th of February they were at their homes so couldn’t have been involved in any crime. The victims were called to Pattaya Police Station and the motorbike was identified to be the one involved in the crime. At this point the two cracked and pleaded guilty. They have been charged with attempted robbery and further investigation continues.
buriramboy
Knowing nothing about the Thai legal system, what is likely to happen to these 2 youths? Will they be bailed, so they can try and steal another handbag tonight or are they held until their trial? After arrest how long do cases like this wait before trial, and for crimes like this what is the expected or normal sentance, as we never seem to hear about sentancing? OlRedEyes
Pretty stupid to do that with a licence plate attached. They did this to my wife on Samui a while back, but the licence plate was removed.
Pattaya_Fox
Let`s hope that they throw the book at em. I also hope that they checked out the other members of the gang as they are probably at it as well.
