Making America less great, less relevant, less connected, and less respected by the day.

Including in western countries. With a billion Muslims and at least 10% of Salafists, the potential of recruitment for Islamist groups remains immense and consequently their survival is assured - the threat is underestimated, I agree but short of standing each one up against a wall and shooting them, then what can be done about them? Pedrogaz
Good riddance. The fewer Neo-cons we have in the administration the better, IMHO. Trump fulfilling his campaign promise to bring troops home where no strategic US interest is at stake. The US are in Syria illegally and if they have any respect for international law, as they say the have, then they should get out and let Russia finish the terrorists off. Credo
What is particularly scary, although not surprising, is that Trump tweeted that he does not know Brett McGurk. Trump has declared that ISIS is defeated, but he doesn't know the guy who has been in charge of fighting ISIS since 2015.????

bristolboy
The thing that's really unfair about the criticism of the withdrawal, is that critics claim he made the decision to withdraw quickly on the spur-of-the-moment without any careful consideration. That's simply untrue. Trump completely understood the implications of this and... hold on just a moment... Syria war: Trump 'persuaded not to pull out immediately' US officials say President Trump has been persuaded not to pull the military out of Syria immediately, despite his declaration last week that the US would "be coming out of Syria very soon". Advisers reportedly convinced him that it could risk a resurgence by the Islamic State (IS) group. The White House said on Wednesday the US military mission in Syria was coming to a "rapid end". https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-43644633 Oh well. Never mind.
