Democrat Warren takes step to challenge Trump in 2020

Much more substantive article about Warren's misogyny problem.

There seems to be a theory that this would hit any woman running for president who is a serious contender.

I'm not buying that but a test would be nominating Klobuchar.

I think Kamala Harris would have the problem to some degree but less than Warren and Clinton.

There’s a Reason Many Voters Have Negative Views of Warren—But the Press Won’t Tell You Why

The media have focused on her comparatively low approval ratings—but not the misogyny that drives them.

Complete and utter nonsense. Before she was a senator, she was the force behind the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It's only because Republicans didn't confirm her for that position that she ran for Senator. Not only has she consistently been extremely progressive on the issue, but she has mastered the details in a way that Sanders hasn't. Where do you come up with this nonsense about her?

I actually deal with that bureau, or did. They used to send me a lot of threatening letters warning me to do something I was already doing or else. They didn't seem to recognize that state's have financial laws too.

Did you watch that beer drinking video? Probably the most embarrassing and contrived piece of filmed media I ever saw. If this is the best they have for 2020 the next 2 years will be priceless.

This is the stage where the dems should say OK enough with the negativity and hysterics. Time to get positive and give out some hopeful messages otherwise they should not even bother running in 2020. Not sure Mrs Warren is capable of positive actions.

Same thoughts at the same time.

The video was worse than watching MTV Cribs.  For one thing, Elizabeth Warren perpetuating the myth of Indians being alcoholics is mean-spirited and racist.  She obviously has no respect for her 1/200 Indian Ancestry to poke fun.  The optics of this picture is astounding.  If this is an example of what the Demorats want to put forward to have their finger on the nuclear button, I can only think that having ones finger on the nuclear trigger and a beer in the other hand, just doesn't work.

It isn't like it was above the democrats to suggest somebody who likes beer is an alcoholic. somebody should ask her if she has ever blacked out.

Whether it's fair or not (obviously not fair) this likeability thing with women candidates is a real issue. We're not living in an ideal world and right now instead of pretending that we are, the priority needs to be removing the worst American president in history. Whatever and whoever it takes. I don't think it's Warren.

Before you run against Trump, you have to run against Hillary (if you’re a woman)

Just hours after Elizabeth Warren announced her plans to run for president, a question began surfacing about a possible weakness. It wasn’t derived from opposition research into some facet of her life. It had nothing to do with her policy ideas.

I really don't understand the need for Clinton comparisons. Clinton lost because she was corrupt and the media covered for her, which led to her being smug and arrogant. I'm not aware of anyone that thinks Warren is corrupt and my guess is the media will take her down when they can find a more corporate friendly candidate to anoint as "the clear frontleader". It's a big ad cycle for them.

Hey, speaking of ads. Sweeps week begins January 31. You think Mueller will have something that week?

Democrats need to understand -- as Warren still has not understood -- that Americans, even moderate Democrats, are sick of identity politics, whether of the right or the left.  That Warren tried to benefit from  the identity politics game by essentially gaming the game will be the kiss of death, no matter how solid any of her policy positions are.

What corrupt act did Clinton commit?

That's absurd.

The democrats just had a landslide in the national house elections due to the votes of suburban women. All political flavors utilize identity politics. The "trump" movement capitalized on exploiting WHITE resentment. That's also identity politics. You're being really naïve if you think that is going to go away and that the power of that should be ceded to the "trump" fans and right wingers. Happily, democrats are not that stupid.

It is my understanding that arrow sharpening is a major effort in Pocahontas land these days.
Just because dear leader uses such racist slurs does not mean others should ever consider such a low level of garbage as reasonable style of political rhetoric. It's not funny either. It's stupid. Going there reflects on the writer not Warren.

Yes policies are important but you still need to motivate enough people to vote with a whole package. If you can't win your policies don't go anywhere.

I am sorry if you thought something in my post was insulting. It certainly wasn't meant to be.

For Bernie's fans the motivation was the policy positions. His ability to motivate grass roots, without any style or panache in his body, was extraordinary... possibly it was enough to win the primary... but we will never know because motivating the electorate means little when you are also battling the DCCC and a highly corrupted Dem establishment.

Popular policy will hopefully trump establishment bias in the 2020 Dem primaries.

Warren is 1/32 Indian and 1/2 clueless. Rising to Trump's bait and taking a DNA test, really?

And proposing that the government get into drug manufacturing will certainly appeal to the inner socialist of, I dunno, 1/32th of the electorate?

Yeah that was a mistake. It showed poor judgment. All politicians have liabilities. People should keep an open mind at this point I suppose. Give them all a chance to make their case.

Then there is Biden. Seems like he has a real shot. Like most people I suppose I don't find that particularly exciting.

Looks like Bernie is about to become the next casualty of the #metoo gang. Not sure Biden can live down his gaffes and the footage of him being creepy around women. After the Kavanaugh debacle you have to prove an accusation false. This may come back to bite some dems. After all it is a privilege to hold office not a right.

A third party candidate might have as good a chance as any these days with the internet and social media. Heck send out Dwayne "the rock" Johnson. He is arguably as compelling as anybody else.
