Lost my Yellow Book! How to get replacement?

Still hoping to find it, but after unsuccessful searches in all the right and wrong places I have to assume it is permanently misplaced.

Whats the procedure to get a new one issued?
I remember the initial process involved several trips to Bangkok MFA, Embassy, Translators, ... costly and time consuming.

I don't have experience with a lost book, but obviously:

you have to contact the district office where the yellow book was issued.

 

I assume they will require a police report about the loss (as it is an official document).

 

There is no need to do the whole process from scratch.

You are already registered in the citizen database.

It's comparable to a lost Thai driving license.

Having a photocopy would be helpful (it contains your citizen ID).

Do you also have a "pink card" (foreigners ID card)?

Replacement should cost less than 100 Baht.

Either the Banglamung District Office ("amphoe") or Pattaya City Hall is the place to go.

For the issue of the yellow book you should have been there in person anyway?

Been there and will contact them soon. Was jut hoping someone comforts me by saying I dont have to repeat the quest I did a Year and a Half ago. Thanks!

Strange, I didn't need to do any of that in Lopburi.

The process for yellow book is highly inconsistent, requirements vary widely.

Some offices will torture you with going to MFA Bangkok, legalizing passport translation etc.

Other offices are happy with a simple translation from local translator (like in my case).

I you have married in the past most of the necessary data is already in the marriage documents (like your name in Thai, also applied to me).
Rumor is, that some offices even do the translation of names to Thai on themselves.

Neither did I.

At the ket (in BKK) just with my passport and repeating my name, they did the translation which I verified as ok. Same with the name of my parents, just speaking it out and writen in roman letters they did a estimate translation themself.

They accepted my sugessions for some changes, our names are not ''english'' pronounced.

Taking off shoe, and photo in front of board with lines.

Done. Book + ID(Pink, called ID for Non-Thai-Nationals)

First time was free, same as for Thais and their ID, any replacement should cost 60 was told.

 

This could of course differ with location and official.

Yes and you are among the lucky few.

Others were tortured/harassed until they gave up.

At my office it was basically just the translation from a local translator.

And they even overlooked that my birth certificate does not show nationality of the parents (as per the rule).

They just entered "not applicable"

Would have cost me a nightmare to get a certificate from my embassy/consulate.

I had no problems going to the amphoe after my marriage to a Thai lady to get the yellow book.

In fact a man with many gold stripes welcomed me personally.

I was told to come back at any time if a problem arises (and they do)

My query is "what is a pink book"
