Underprivileged ethnic Karen people in a village on the Myanmar border received welfare cards on Tuesday under the government’s Thai Niyom Yangyuen (Sustainable Thainess) scheme.

They were among 26 residents of Ban Ta Fang in Mae Hong Son’s Mae Sariang district given the cards by district chief Thanakrit Chanthajamrassilpa.

Most recipients were disabled or elderly and house-bound, such as husband and wife Uthu Samajitlert and Kerathu Samajitlert.

Apart from being ethnic Karen, do they have somehow Thai nationality as well? I'm baffled.

Why else would the government be giving them money if they couldn't buy their votes?

California gives free health care, food stamps, housing and anything they want to illegal immigrants while Americans, including vets sleep on the sidewalk. If you're lucky to have a home, health insurance is about $400 a month minimum. Medicare and a half way decent drug plan costs about $300. Sneak under the "fence" and everything's free. Thanks Dems. We don't need a wall, Nancy. But you have one around your house.
