Air pollution in and around Bangkok is expected to remain bad if not worse in the next seven days due to the onset of low pressure from China which will keep PM2.5 dust particles hovering in the area from spreading out, said Deputy Prime Minister Chatchai Sarikulya.

However, he gave an assurance that the situation was under control as the government has already implemented several immediate steps to cope with the problem.

He insisted that the amount of PM2.5 particulate has not reached the level that can harm people in the affected areas which have high concentration of the very fine dust particles.

….and exhaust fumes will confine air pollution in BKK for the next 7 decades! I think they have all breathed too much carbon monoxide to make rational decisions. Can't see the cars for the fumes!

For example, spraying water in the air.

At the moment the pressure around bkk is sitting around 1012,  1013.25 is standard air pressure ( sea level at 50% relative humidity in still air )

If as claimed low pressure is causing the smog to hang about it, for me, doesn't really follow.

Low pressure happens when the relative humidity rises and the moisture carries more energy in the atmosphere which means the wind increases and that would help to move the smog.

High pressure is much more likely to cause stable air with very little wind meaning the smog hangs about more and also is more likely to generate temperature inversions trapping the smog under a layer of slightly warmer air in the cooler morning air.

Just sayin.

Just bury your head in the sand, Junta leader.

Oh, and make sure you pray vigorously this evening.

KP.

I thought you were leaving.

The Junta does not control the weather. They are taking steps to mitigate, cut them a break. Yes it should have been done sooner, but they dont control the burning in Cambo do they?

Too many cars! Juntas fault! Build transit lines to ease traffic that kicks up dust? Juntas fault!

Too many posters who deal with soundbites and simplistic Monday morning quarterbacking?

Juntas fault.

You are too young to remember LA in the 60s. Time for you to enjoy the new perfect home you are heading to....

Really? Haven't you heard about storm Pabuk?

It was down to the Junta leaders prayers that it didn't cause much damage..

Didn't you know that?

The spokesperson from the government agency is simply lying It has nothing or very little to do with construction and everything to do with hydrocarbons being burned

Cars, motorcycles, vendors cooking pork on charcoal  business and industry combined  They say current conditions are not harmful Well global standards say it is very harmful

Current pollution reads are at 156 and not good This is unhealthy

Find your condition here  https://aqicn.org/city/bangkok/

Wasn't this bad when locals were riding two-stroke motorcycles.

Grew up in London in the 1950's - now that was smog!!

Exactly.  He has the power to clear the smog so why isn't he speaking to god?

????????

Every house burning a coal fire etc, I wonder if you had a figure for the number of coal fires then compared to the number of engines, mainly diesel, now in BKK, if the numbers would be similar.

????
