Driving licence renewal declined before expiration date

Hi all,

I tried to renew my 2 year motorbike driving licence for a new 2 year licence at the landtransport office outside Pattaya but was denied.

I had to renew the licence after the expiration date (Feb 20) because I'm on a visa exemption. Online I read you can renew 60 days before the expiration.

Is this true? Never heard of this. Any info would appreciated, I could go again tomorrow if someone has any other info.

(It wouldn't be an issue, but I stay in BKK and came 4 days to Jomtien because I can't get a residence certificate in BKK - the whole goal of the trip was renewal )
