Newegg import duties

Featured Replies

I'm about to order a new CPU (includes a heatsink and fan) 2200 baht (older model-AMD FX8350 https://www.newegg.com/global/th-en/Product/Product.aspx?reviews=all&Item=N82E16819113284). The Thai customs tariff website doesn't seem to be working today and so no joy there. Something in the back of my brain is telling me that computer parts are 0% import duties? Has anyone done this or got any relevant information? Thanks.

How is it shipped?  If by mail they probably would not charge even if noticed as 1,500 baht is allowed anyway.  But if a courier service they often charge everything at flat rate for speedy clearance.  As for normal duty due can not answer.

By mail, not a courier company. I have been had before!

Update: The Tariff Code for "Processing units for personal computers" is 8471.50.10 and is tax Exempt (0%) as confirmed by a customs officer on their 1164 helpline. Thailand will add 7% VAT. So the processor I am going to get is a great deal (AMD FX-8350=2200 baht), considering the same units on Lazada are roughly 3 times the price. I hope this information can be of use to other members.

Even at Invade it 5390. Crazy.

I have ordered quite a lot from NewEgg in the last little while.  Newegg just assessed the taxes and duties (generally around 7% on computer parts) and I never dealt with Thai Customs -- Fedex did that.  I typically order something and about 4 days later a Fedex delivery truck would show up with it.  For many of the parts I ordered (small parts) like memory, CPU, video card, SSD, hard drive etc... they were considerably cheaper than ordering locally.  I probably saved between $600 to $1000 last year doing that.  (2 x Seagate Ironwolf Pro 12GB - priced cheaper than non-pro locally; 2 x Samsung EVO 2TB drives; 4 x 16GB 3200 PC RAM; 2 x 16GB SODIMM (for Mac Mini); Sapphire Vega 56 (Pulse); 1 x i7-9700K)
