I would suggest the OP proceed carefully. Defamation laws are such in Thailand that the truth is not a defence. His best option would be to get the defects repaired, then sell it. Use the proceeds to buy a TATA.

I established a long time ago Fords are crap vehicles. The best example of that was an Australian Grand Prix, when the two Ford entries pulled up to the starting grid after the warmup lap, and burst into flames 20 seconds apart.

Excellent good sensible advice, defamation can not be used if it is in the public interest but difficult to establish

Only problem is we had a  new Honda, and followed advice above, then we bought a new SUBARU , we raised the question of misrepresentation a month after delivery, we have received several lawyers letters threatening defamation, despite the fact we paid 1.2M we wrote to Japan, got nowhere

Sadly gave the fight up, we live in Thailand, know its third world, no real consumer protection, I am sad to hear Ford also do little to help

We have choices stay and accept or leave !!

I am looking at the pictures. Some pics have a rust proof coating applied. Some not? For sure the vehicle has been sprayed at some point out of the factory. I can't understand why they are arguing with you.

Go to the Thai high court of justice. Trial be Facebook. In Thai.

Bought a used Ford Focus which was overheating after first 30 minutes drive and over 5 weeks they couldn't resolve it. When I threatened them with the consumer protection office at the Bangkok court, they took it back and returned 95% of the money

if it's a good first class insurer the claim would be the truck has been damaged and repaired but not properly and go from there, no need for f'ing praying get it done.

So an Insurer is going to pay up for damage caused by someone at a time before they insured the vehicle. Sure, maybe my 47 years of insurance experience is letting me down, but I would keep on praying if I was you. You have no idea of what insurance is all about like so many who think you insure and then whatever happens will be put right for you.

I have idea and have experienced Thai No.1 first class insurance and it is not the same as a western or european insurer.

Always happy to stand corrected. I need to speak to my 1st Class Insurer in Bangkok early next week so I shall just ask if their policy covers pre-purchase damage and subsequent shitty repairs by an unknown third party. So just to be clear, not wear and tear (not covered anyway), not damage by a 3rd party after acquisition nor by the owner after acquisition, and If I am proved wrong I shall ask for forgiveness. If I am right, you will be the first to know.

Have a look at the Ford Ranger rusty chassis group on Facebook. https://m.facebook.com/groups/367003487527187?view=info&refid=18&ref=m_notif&notif_t=group_activity

Ford does not care!

That's a pretty small group IMHO. I read somewhere that the Mitsubishi Pajero rusty chassis group is enormous. Even bigger than the Isuzu D-Max rusty chassis group.

+1 to this. Even the mention of them maybe enough.

Why did you not check the thing out properly, carefully and thoroughly before handing over that cash, or taking delivery.

Why even bother asking this question if you have read the thread?

Unless it is to make yourself appear wise and the op a fool.

You know what I mean.

In UK before you buy a vehicle, you can have the RAC (Royal Automobile Club) engineers come to give it a good proper inspection.

And how many do that before taking delivery of a "new" car direct from the dealer?

Park it out the front of the dealers...

Get someone  (better still 3 or 4 people) on Facebook Live

Choose an array of weapons, from sledge hammer, to paint stripper, to mini backhoe

Inform said dealer that you are about to destroy his sub standard offering, live on Facebook

Then destroy it, but take your time and make sure there are plenty of shots with the dealer in the back ground

Up load it all over social media and stand back as Thia Netizens go into "meltdown"

Won't get your 1.2mil back but hopefully you bought it on finance...

"Won't get your 1.2mil back but hopefully you bought it on finance..."

He didn't use finance, but, even if he had done, he'd still have to pay the finance off.

What's the connection between the quality of Ford's road vehicles and a couple of highly modified race cars in "an Australian Grand Prix" and how is it a "good example"?

Guys. FORD Thailand have closed the case. They say that warranty will take off the corrosion. The pre damage is down to the dealer. Not their concern. I will now go to the Thai Consumer Board and take legal.

I understand that you wanted to, unreasonably, try to screw a new car out of Ford but if Ford will take care of the minor surface corrosion under warranty why are you taking "legal" [sic]?  Are you that bothered about a couple of screws that need tightening?  What was the "pre damage" that you found (I don't mean a bit of over-spray) that is so significant?
