BANGKOK, 30th January 2019 (NNT) - The Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) is expecting more tourists this Chinese New Year, while confirming that Thailand is still among China’s most popular holiday destinations.

AOT President Nitinai Sirismatthakarn said today that 35,000 scheduled flights and around 800 charter flights are already expected to arrive at its six airports.

They include Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang International Airports in Bangkok, as well as international airports in Phuket, Chiang Mai, Songkhla’s Hat Yai and Chiang Rai. This marks an increase of 7.2% in flight arrivals and a 4% increase in passenger volume from the same period last year, or 5.9 million travelers.

To handle the anticipated volume of passengers and flights during Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, AOT has scheduled additional immigration officers, interpreters, and airport custodians to work during the holidays. Several signs in Mandarin have been erected to assist Chinese tourists.

The idiot of the year award goes to the clown at AOT who came up with that stupid statement.

Already started seeing the first "blue number plates" driven by walkie talkie wielding people, passing through the village en route from Chiang Khong to Chiang Mai. Nothing like as many as a few years ago, but then it is more difficult to drive across the borders now, no?

We dont see an increase this year not many inquiries or bookings from Chinese a lot more Russians this year than last, or is it just the luck of the draw?

"AOT expects more Chinese arrivals during Chinese New Year"

Obviously the persons who created this BREAKING NEWS statement are highly educated and of superior intelligence.

That seems rather a lot, say over a 5 day period would be 11oo flights per airport Per day .Somehow I don`t think even swampy could achieve that. Brilliant Mr President Nitinai Sirismatthakarn

Why would any health conscious person fly into BKK or Hat Yai?

Rubbery figures a speciality of the Thai education system. If the arithmetic does not say what you need to say, just lie. Nobody will ever know... where's the harm?

Wait until they hear about the serious pollution in Bangkok ?

Have you been to China?  Bangkok is a clean air zone in compassion to most Chinese cities. They will come for the health benefit.
